Re: Can I go for TET without doing B.Ed? I am a graduate(B.A)
You will have to complete Bachelor of Education course to apply for Teachers Eligibility Test. It has been made mandatory by the Human Resources and Development Ministry of India. The Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) is a 1 year course in which you will be trained to teach different subjects to school children.
The subjects will depend on your qualification. For example, if you have completed graduation in Arts then you will trained for subjects like Geography, History and Languages. B.Sc graduates are trained for science subjects. Once you have completed the B.Ed course you will be eligible for Teachers Eligibility Test. Earlier after B.Ed the candidate used to get direct job but now government has made some changes to improve quality of education in government schools. Therefore you will have to appear for the Teachers Eligibility Test or the Central Teachers Eligibility Test. The CTET is conducted by the central government schools while TET is conducted separately by each state in India. The criteria for both exams remains the same. Eligibility 1. Only Indian citizens can apply for TET. 2. A Bachelor degree in any discipline. 3. At least 50 percent marks in graduation. 4. A B.Ed degree from a recognized university. 5. There is no upper age limit. You will have to score minimum of 60 percent marks in the TET exam to clear it. SC/ST candidate will need 55 percent marks. |
