Respected Sir/Madam, I am a girl candidate and interested to join Indian Air Force. So, I want t apply for CDS. I would like to know can I join IAF through CDS? Please help me to know about this asap. Waiting for your response!

No, girls/female candidates cannot join Indian Air Force through CDS Exam that is conducted by UPSC every year.

Through CDS Exam, they can apply for OTA (Officers' Training Academy) but not Air force.

However, to join Indian Air Force, girls can apply for AFCAT exam (Air Force Common Admission Test) that is conducted by Indian Air Force every year.

CDS refers to Combined Defense Services and it has four wings which includes Naval Academy (NA), Air force Academy (AFA), Indian Military Academy (IMA) and Officer's Training Academy ( OTA ).

Further for joining any of the four wings of CDS, you need to qualify CDS entrance examination held by UPSC twice every year.

Now, as far as you are concerned about your possibility to join Air force ( i.e; AFA ) through CDS then I would like to let you know that being a girl candidate you can only join OTA through CDS and therefore you are not eligible to join AFA or NA or IMA through CDS.

But, if you are interested to join Indian Air force then you can join the same through AFCAT ( Air force Common Admission Test ).

No, you are not eligible to join Indian Air Force through CDS being a girl candidate. As per the UPSC CDS examination official notification, only unmarried male candidates who have passed Bachelor's degree course in any discipline from a Government recognised university with Mathematics and Physics subjects at 12th standard from a Government recognised board are eligible to apply for CDS examination. So, being a girl candidate, you are not eligible to apply for CDS examination for joining in Indian Air Force.

1. Completion of graduation with PCM(Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) as main subjects from any recognized board or university.

3. Nationality:- Indian.

4. Sex:- Male and female both.

5. Marital status:- Unmarried.

6. Physically and mentally fit.

7. Age limit:- 18-24 years.
