My question is whether i can pursue my M.Tech. in a branch different from the branch i pursue my B.Tech.?

I am Udayan Banerjee and presently i am doing my B.Tech. 2nd year in Mining Engineering from Institute Of Technology-Banaras Hindu University.

M.tech is specialization in a subjects you can choose any subject related to your branch...
even some colleges provide any subjects without any necessary subject in b.tech so donot worry at all...


Eligibility for GATE Exam:

• **either Bachelor degree holders in Engineering/Technology/Architecture
• **either Master degree holders in any branch of Science/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Applications
• **either Candidates in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master degree programme (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/Technology

only these candidates can apply ..

• for Gate as there is no age limit
• and no number of attempts defined in GATE exam..
• and also there is no minimum percentage criteria ,

yes,you can do it.it does not follow any rules just you need is a bachelor degree that is b.tech from any university

yes you can do any branch in MTech . but the thing is doing a different branch you need to concentrate more as you do not have basics about it.mining is a good field so pursuing in the same field will be a good thing

Can i do m.tech in computer science after b.tech in machanical engineering

i want to do my mtech from MIT .how can i get into mit.is there any exam?

No,u cant do m.tech from different branch.because m.tech is a course to become specialist in the branch from which u have done b.tech

Which branch is the best engineering branch in IIts? which iit is best iit for electrical engineering? Is B.tech has more placements than Mtech dual degree?
