Can I study MBBS after completion of BDS?
I have completed my graduate degree course in Bachelor of Dental Surgeon (BDS). Now, I wanted to study MBBS. Am I eligible to apply for MBBS? Will I get direct admission in 2nd year of MBBS?

Re: Can I study MBBS after completion of BDS?
There is no lateral entry in MBBS course after the BDS.
So, you are not eligible to appear for the examination to get admission in the 2nd year of the MBBS course after the BDS. NEET is conducted for admission in the MBBS course and conducted by NTA. |

Re: Can I study MBBS after completion of BDS?
MBBS stands for Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery and to pursue the same degree course the minimum education required is a Class 12th in Science stream with PCB group from a recognised board of education which is same as that required to pursue BDS (Bachelor of Dental Science) degree course.
So, having completed your BDS degree course, you are eligible to pursue for MBBS degree course but from the first year as there is no provision of direct admission to second year of MBBS degree course for BDS degree holder or any other degree holder. |

Re: Can I study MBBS after completion of BDS?
If you want to get admission in the MBBS course, you will have to appear and qualify in the NEET conducted by NTA.
The eligibility to appear for the examination is that candidate must have passed 12th from a recognised board with minimum 50% aggregate in PCB. No, admission in the 2nd year of MBBS course through lateral entry. |

Re: Can I study MBBS after completion of BDS?
As far as you are concerned about the possibility of getting admission directly to the second year of MBBS degree course having completed BDS course then I would like to let you know that there is no such possibility as there is no provision of direct admission to second year of MBBS degree course for any candidate.
But, at the same time, you are eligible for MBBS admissions from the first year as the minimum education required for MBBS admission is same as that for BDS admission. Further, for pursuing MBBS degree course from any medical college of India, you need to qualify medical admission tests such as NEET, AIIMS MBBS entrance examination, or JIPMER MBBS entrance examination. |
