can metallurgy people write the civil services exam?Is there any opportunity for metallurgical background students?can a metallurgist become an IAS officer?

Yes, metallurgy students are eligible for Civil Service Exam.If your degree is equivalent of Bachelor degree .

Civil service exam conduct for recruiting the candidate of - IAS ,IPS and IRS department .

Educational Qualification for Civil Service Exam:-


Those candidate have completed graduation degree from recognized university are applicable for Civil Service exam. Final year of degree courses candidate are also applicable for Civil Service Exam.

Age criteria for Civil Service Exam:-


For General category candidate your age should be in between 21 to 30 years
For OBC category candidates your age should be between 21 to 33 years
For SC/ST category candidates age should be between 21 to 35 years.

No of attempts for Civil Service Exam:-


4 attempts for General category candidates
7 attempts for OBC category candidates
Unlimited attempts for sc/st category candidates

NO, A Diploma Metallurgist cannot apply for the UPSC Civil services exams.

To apply for the UPSC Conducted Civil Services Exams, you need to fulfill the below minimum eligibilty criteria:

Educational Qualification :
Minimum educational qualification to appear is, A Bachelors Degree in any discipline from a UGC/AICTE recognised University.
Final year appeared/appearing candidates can also apply.


Age Limit :
General Category-21-30yrs on 1st August of the year of exam

Dear There,



If, your degree is equivalent of bachelor degree, then you are eligible for civil services examination.

The eligibility criteria required for the civil services examination are prescribed as below:-


* Completion of graduation in any discipline from any recognised college or university.

* Age limit- 21-30 yrs.

* Age relaxation- 3 yrs for OBC and 5 yrs for SC/ST contendors.

* No. of attempts- 4 for General, 7 for OBC and no limits for SC/ST contendors.

* Nationality- Indian.
