Civil Services Examination Civil Engineering (Paper I) Papers
Civil Engineering is one of the engineering subjects in the civil Services Examination. This is an added advantage for the civil engineers that they have their own subject in the most prestigious examination of India. The exam is also the toughest in our country, so students who take up Civil engineering as their optional subject should know everything about the subject. The pattern of the examination is given below.
The main examination of Civil Engineering in Civil Services is of three hours time duration and carries maximum marks of 300. The number of questions in the paper is eight. Students have to answer five questions out of the eight given, but question numbers 1 and 5 are compulsory. The paper is divided into two sections and there are four questions each in both of them. All the questions are of equal marks, carrying 60 marks each. The questions are broken up into several smaller questions. However, the questions are conventional types i.e. they require detailed answers. The first questions can be about writing notes on some topics, with each note carrying twenty marks. Hard work and in-depth knowledge is the key to cracking this exam.
