Of course you can, but the credits you earned in the aviation maintenance program most likely will not transfer to an engineering degree and you will have to start out like all first year engineering students.They are two totally different subjects. Engineering is very math and science heavy where as an AMT program is more hands on. Not that one is better than the other, I am a current engineering student and considered getting my A&P at one point. But if you did decide to persue a degree in engineering after getting your A&P the experience you earned with the hands on work would put you ahead of someone who just went into aeronautical engineering and hasn't physically seen the application of what they are learning.

Most AMT programs I have seen only requires technical mathematics. For engineering you need Calc 1 all the way through Diff EQ. Then there is physics, chem, and engineering courses like circuits, statics, dynamics, thermo, ect...( and thats just the first two years). If it is something you are truley interested in go for it!
