Educational qualification:

The main qualification requirement for finding jobs in the aircraft maintenance field is the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering course shortly called as AME. This course can be taken up by candidates who have completed their higher secondary in science stream of education. For finding placement in the position of Air Craft Maintenance Engineering in government organizations, candidates must have completed their AME course from an institution approved by the Director General of Civil Aviation. Then, they should obtain Aircraft Maintenance Engineer license and for getting this license, AME license examination conducted by the Director General of Civil Aviation should be taken up by the candidates.

The first engineering college in India to offer Director General of Civil Aviation approved AME course is the Southern College of Engineering. Other colleges offering this course are:

Hindustan Institute of Engineering & Technology

Most of these institutions require that to seek admission to the AME course, candidates must have completed their higher secondary in science stream with mathematics, physics and chemistry subjects and they must have secured not less than 50% of aggregate marks.
