Can a person become an Astronaut in NASA with Indian citizenship?

Hello, this is Arundhathi. I am studying Aeronautical engineering and I am a first year student. I want to work in NASA as an Astronaut. But recently I heard that to become an Astronaut in NASA we have to be a citizen of America. So, my question is can I become an Astronaut at NASA being an Indian? If yes, then how?

Yes, that's correct.
As per the eligibility criteria of The national aeronautics and space administrations:-
:-You must be a citizen of United States of America who is also registered on USAjobs.
:-You must have a bachelors degree in engineering, or in physics and mathematics.
:-You should have 3 years of professional experience in relevant field after your degree Or you should have 1000 hours of jet aircraft experience as pilot in command.
Do you have any question? or have anything to say?
