Can XI and XII CBSE commerce be done externally after completing XII CBSE with humanities subjects?

At present I study in class XII CBSE with humanities subjects. I am also preparing for entrance test for NID. If I am not able to crack NID, I want to do B Com for which XII with mathematics is required. Can I give that exam externally to be eligible for B Com study? Or is there any other solution?
