CDS is the Combined Defence Services exam Conducted by UPSC for recruitment in Indian Military Academy , Indian Naval Academy , Indian Air force Academy , Officer's Training Academy. You are a commerce student. So, You are only eligible for Indian Military Academy (IMA) and Officer's Training Academy (OTA). For that , Your age should be between 18 to 22 years.

As a commerce student you can apply for this CDS examination and according to the eligibility provided below you can apply for the specific post in which you are eligible.

CDS is conducted for the Defense services like

• Indian Navy
• Indian Military
• Indian Air force
• Officers Training Academy

These are the various posts which are conducted through the CDS examination.

Required Eligibility:

• Candidates appearing for Indian Air Force and Navy should possess Bachelors of Engineering or B.Sc with Physics and Mathematics as a branch of study
• Candidates appearing for OTA and IMA should possess any degree from recognized institute of study

CDS examination is conducted by UPSC twice every year in month of February and August. The examination is conducted for recruitment of candidates in Air Force, Navy, Military etc.

The eligibility to appear for examination is :-

* Air Force - B.tech/B.E or B.Sc Mathematics or Physics as main paper. Age limit :- 19- 23years.
* Navy - B.Tech/B.E or B.Sc Mathematics or Physics as main paper. Age limit :- 19-22 years.
* IMA - Graduation in any discipline and age limit 19-24 years.
* OTA - Graduation in any discipline and age limit 19-25 years.

--> CDS stands for Combined Defense Services and CDS entrance examinations are held twice every year by Union Public Service Commission for selection of applicants who are looking to be a defense officer in their future. Also the examination includes two stages which are known as Written examination and Service Selection Board ( SSB ) interview.

--> CDS has four wings which includes Naval Academy (NA), Air force Academy (AFA), Indian Military Academy (IMA) and Officer's Training Academy (OTA).

Now being a commerce stream student, you are eligible for appearing in CDS entrance examination but only for joining IMA and OTA wings as for other two wings one must be a science stream student throughout his/her academics.

* You must have the nationality of India with your age lying within 19 years to 24 years for IMA wing and 19 years to 25 years for OTA wing.

* You must have completed you bachelor degree course with any stream of your choice from a recognized university.

* You must be physically and mentally fit as per the service requirement norms.

Eligibility criteria to appear in CDS examinations:

Candidate must have citizenship of India.

Educational qualification:

For Indian Military Academy: A degree from recognised University or equivalent

For Indian Naval Academy : Bachelor of Engineering

For Air Force Academy: Bachelor degree from a Recognised University with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at + 2 Level or Bachelor of Engineering.

Students of final year are also eligible for this exam.

For CDS exam applicants can be from any stream but for entry into air force and Navy, one must have studied maths and physics at + 2 level.

CDS stands for Combined Defence Services. Candidates who want to join different academies of Defence at bachelor's degree level can apply for this examination. It is conducted by Union Public Service Commission.

Eligibility criteria:

*Commerce candidates are eligible for CDS exam but they can join Indian Military Academy or Officer's Training academy only. For Navy and Air force, physics and mathematics is necessary.

*Age limit for IMA is 19-24 years and for OTA is 19-25 years. Both unmarried male and female candidates can apply for exam.

There is written test and Service Selection Board, after cracking both these stages, you will join any of above academy.

A subject of Bhutan

A subject of Nepal

The candidate should have passed a degree from a recognised University with the subject of physics and maths at 10+ 2 level or Bachelor of Engineering.

Age limit:-

Age limit is between 19 years to 24 years.
