The examination conducted for recruitment in the Indian Administrative Service is known as Civil Service Exam and is considered as one of the toughest entrance exam conducted in India. Apart from this, in order to get selected for the Indian Administrative Service, you must be among the top scorers in the Civil Service Exam.

Now, in order to crack such examination, self preparation might not be enough for certain category of students and it completely depends upon the individual. If you are Smart, Intelligent and have been an exceptional student throughout your academic programs, you might manage to crack the exam without joining any coaching centers but still, if you join a good and reputed coaching center, it will definitely be a good move.

Good and reputed coaching centers have experts with years of experience in preparing candidates for civil service exam and there's no substitutes of these experts.

As far as optional subjects in the Main Exam is concerned, the combination of Management and Public Administration is allowed and you may definitely opt for both the subjects.
