A physician assistant (PA) is a healthcare professional who is licensed to practice medicine as part of a team with physicians.

Physician assistants are concerned with preventing and treating human illness and injury by providing a broad range of health care services under the direction of a physician or surgeon. Physician assistants conduct physical exams, diagnose and treat illnesses, order and interpret tests, prescribe medications, counsel on preventive health care and may assist in surgery.

The basic idea of such a course is to train students with B.Sc Nursing who don't want to practice as a nurse to become Physician Assistants,who will provide health care services under the supervision of a Physician.

Eligibility Criteria for Physician Assistants:

Candidates should have a minimum qualification of a Bachelors degree in any discipline. However, preference will be given to Science graduates. Qualification in the medical field will be an added advantage.

Duration:

The duration of this Physician Assistant program is 3 years,which includes a one year internship.

Course Overview:

A Physician Assistant must attend a specialized medical training program associated with a medical organization that includes classroom studies and clinical experience.

A certificate is awarded after the completion of the course. Having a prior healthcare experience will be an additional qualification to get enrolled into the program.
