Is distance post graduate degree acceptable for the purpose of NET?
Can I appear for NET exam after my Masters in Sociology from IGNOU? Is distance degree valid for applying to NET examination? If not, then what should I do to become eligible?

Re: Is distance post graduate degree acceptable for the purpose of NET?
The first thing I would like to let you know is that the minimum education required to appearing in NET (National Eligibility Test) is a master's degree ( in your interested paper for teaching) with at least 55% marks from a recognised university. Marks relaxation upto 5% is allowed for candidates belonging to reserved category.
Now, as far as you are concerned about the validity of Master's degree course pursued in distance mode for appearing in NET, then I would like to let you know that the distance education degree course are certainly accepted for NET examination provided the university offering the degree course is recognised by UGC. So, having completed your Master's in Sociology from IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University) which is one of the Central University and approved by UGC, you are eligible to apply for NET if your marks in the master's degree is as per the requirement. For more details regarding NET, you can refer to the link www.ntanet.nic.in. |
