Re: Which engineering branch is the best for me to join IES?
Dear friend,
IES or Indian Engineering Services exam is conducted by the UPSC every year for recruitment of engineers in different engineering services under the central Govt. There is nothing like one engineering branch has particularly got preference in this exam. And that will be best choice to score good in IES exam. This exam is conducted for mainly four branches of engineering eg: Civil,Mechanical,Electronics,Electrical. But other branches like CS/IT students also can apply for the exam if they have their subject knowledge. So without any hesitation and thinking about the IES you should choose your preferred B.Tech stream and get started with your engineering. While you will be in your 3rd year of engineering then you can start preparing for IES exam. For that you have to work hard as this is a very competitive all India exam. Best of luck! |

Re: Which engineering branch is the best for me to join IES?
Hi friend,
The educational qualification required for admission to the Indian Engineering Service examination is that a candidate must have obtained a degree in Engineering from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational Institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as Universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956; or must have passed Section A and B of the Institution Examinations of the Institution of Engineers (India); or must have obtained a degree/diploma in Engineering from such foreign University/College/Institution and under such conditions as may be recognised by the Government for the purpose from time to time, or must have passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India); or must have passed Associate Membership Examination Parts II and III/Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India; or must have passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Radio Engineers, London held after November, 1959. And for your kind information you can do any of engineering course as you want. There is not any rule for taking a particular engineering course as your course to get eligible for doing IES. |

Re: Which engineering branch is the best for me to join IES?
Dear Friend ,
First try to choose the branch in which you are really interested in and if you join the same as per interest , the career opportunities are yours . There are plenty of opportunities n jobs in any field if you are interested n passionate in that field . For IES Mechanical ,civil and EEE are the best departments . Anyway as per my knowledge n current trend I suggest Mechanical Engineering is the best dept because the number of core companies n core jobs are more as compared to other departments . And also the opportunities in public sector is more for Mechanical and it is evergreen field with no fluctuations . |

IES stands for Indian Engineering Services Exam.
This Exam is being conducted once in a year by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) to recruit the candidates into following Engineering Services Civil Engineering Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering The minimum academic qualification that is required for the candidates is by completion of Engineering course with any of the stream. In addition, the nationality of the candidate should be India. The candidate should possess an age between 21-30 years of age.
