How to become an IPS officer? Which books are to be referred? I am a B.E 1st year student


hello sir,good evng !
my name is manish kmr , i am in B.A 1st year ! i want to become an ips officer! i want to know that which books are useful in this syllubus and how can i prepare to it !
plz tell me about

If your aspiring to become and IPS Officer than you should appear in Civil Service Examination which is Conducted by UPSC ( ie:- Union Public Service Commission ) . This Civil Service Examination may held every Once in a year .

Bachelor degree Course is the Basic Qualification to apply for this Civil Service , But at present your BA 1st year student . So, Now your not eligible for IPS Examination .

Your Eligible Only After Completing your BA Course . So, Please Complete your BA Course without arrears than definitely your eligible to apply for IPS Examination .

IPS stands for Indian Police Service and this Examination Organized by Union Public Service .

Eligibility Criteria :-

Educational Qualification :- Student should hold bachelor degree Course in any discipline from recognized University and There is percentage of marks require for this Examination . So, Pass mark is enough to apply for this Examination .

Final year candidate may also eligible to apply for this Examination .

Age Criteria :- Student age should be Minimum 21 years and Maximum 30 years and Upper age relaxation will applicable,

-For SC/ST candidates :- Five Years
-FOR OBC candidates :- Three years

IPS stands for Indian Police Service


For applying IPS exam a candidate must have to appear for Civil Service Exam (CSE) and also have to crack it with good score.......

This exam is conducted by UPSC twice in year in month of June and December.....

Eligibility and Criteria:


  • A candidate must have completed their graduation Degree in any Descipline (B.A, B.com, B.E ) with atlest 55% from recognise universities.
  • Final year students are also applicable.

Age Limit:

  • General category student:- 21-30 years.
  • OBC relaxation in upper age +3 years.
  • SC/ST relaxation in upper age +5 years.

No. Attempt:


General attempt limit is 4 times (for OBC 7 times and for SC/St there is No Limit).....

Exam Pattern:

  1. Preliminary Exam.
  2. Main Exam
  3. Interview

-- Every year lacs of candidates try their luck in Civil Service Examination in order to fulfill their dream of becoming IPS or IAS officer.

-- To become IPS officer, you have to qualify the Civil Service Examination conducted annually by UPSC.

-- Eligibility criteria for Civil Service Examination are:
* Candidate should be Indian Citizen.
* Candidate must be graduate in any discipline.

-- Required age limit for Civil Service Examination are:
# 21-30 years for General category
# 21-33 years for OBC category
# 21-35 years for SC/ST category

-- Number of attempts permissible for different categories are:
* For General category, only 04 attempts permissible.
* For OBC category, only 07 attempts are permissible.
* For Sc/ST category, unlimited attempts are permissible.

-- Recommended books for exam are:
# General Studies for Civil Service Preliminary Examination by TMH

If you are interested to became a IPS officer then you have to appear for Civil Service exam which is conducted through UPSC every year.

There are some eligibility criteria for this exam which are as follows:

i am a student of b.com 2 year and i want to become ips pfficer iam studying in lovely professional university in distance education so i want to know that i can appear un the civil service exam after my graduation.
