How to do research on Medical Genetics for a Government Medical Officer?

Sir/Madam, I am serving as a Medical Officer in Government sector from last 16 years. I am a BSc Zoology Hons graduate and MBBS holder with Cardiologist training. I want to do research on Medical Genetics. Kindly guide me.
