You will have to become Cardiologist who in simple language is referred as the heart specialist or heart surgeon in India. The Cardiologist is qualified to handle critical situations related to the heart that are very complex and therefore can't be handled by anyone else.
The Cardiologist treats various heart conditions. He does not only operate the patient in case of heart failure but makes changes in the diet of the patient to conducting stress tests, finding coronary blockages and radiology studies. According to the various tests that Cardiologist conducts he can recommend diet, lifestyle changes as well medicine to the patient. In extreme cases the Cardiologist also operates the patient. Cardiologist treats conditions related to heart such as coronary artery diseases, valvular heart disease, failure of heart, electrophysiology, congenital heart defects and much more. The process of becoming Cardiologist is very long and therefore not all doctors pursue this field. It has lead to huge shortage of Cardiologists in India. Eligibility 1. You should have completed 12th with Physics, Chemistry and Biology, 2. Apply for the MBBS entrance exams. NEET is the national level entrance exam in India. 3. The duration of MBBS course in India is around 4 and half years which is followed by one year long mandatory internship. 4. Once you have completed MBBS, apply for the 3 years for MD course. 5. You will have to apply for the DM in Cardiology course after completing MD. The duration of this course is also 3 years. After completing this course you will become Cardiologist. |
