What is the salary of a public sector bank clerk who is a post graduate at entry level?

In current scenario, the clerks of public sector banks are also getting handsome salaries.

Previously, the clerks of public sector banks used to receive an amount of Rs.4440/-to Rs.13,210/-.

But recently, The Indian Banks Association & Banking Unions have made an increase of 17.5% of the salaries to Clerks and Probationary Officers of Publisc sector banks.

For the candidates who are newly going to join as clerk, this will be directly effected. They get salaries as per the new criteria directly.

From this year, in order to join as clerk in Public sector bank other than for SBI and SBI Associate Bank, one has to appear for the common written exam for all public sector bank clerks conducted by IBPS (Institute of Banking Personnel Selection).

The salary of a clerk in PSU bank is very low . starting basic is 4410, + D.A.+6%hra+105/-
Transport allowances-10% of basic PF.
In state bank of India its total 6800+ on nov. 2009.
But now the wage revision has declared by 17.5% wage hike.
New scales will be in effect veri soon.
New scales not declared yet, according to my knowledge the scale for a assistant may be Rs.6900-7100/-.

I am not sure but in most banks, you can start earning cash-in-hand from 7000-12000 in most top rated government banks in India. The pay-scale may be same for graduates and Post graduates unless the policy of the bank is otherwise.
You can clear your assessment level and increase the salary according to your grade every year.

After a recent strike by the Bank Officer Union’s, the salary scales of officers of different levels are finally increased. The New salary scales for different levels are:

JMGS I: Rs.14500 – 600/7 – 18700 – 700/2 – 20100 – 800/7 – 25700

MMGS II: Rs.19400 – 700/1 – 20100 – 800/10 – 28100

MMGS III: Rs.25700 – 800/5 – 29700 – 900/2 – 31500

SMGS IV: Rs.30600 – 900/4 – 34200 – 1000/2 – 36200

SMGS V: Rs.36200 – 1000/2 – 38200 – 1100/2 – 40400

Where JMGS stands for Junior Management Grade scale, MMGS for Middle Management Grade scale and SMGS for Senior Management Grade scale.

You can compare these new salary scales with the old bank employee salary scales.

Note: This scale only represents the Basic pay that an officer gets. In addition to this, there will be DA, HRA, CCA, Medical Aid, Hospital Expenses, Leave fare concession, Conveyance, Quarters and Furniture will be provided as per Government rules.

Note that there is still not a change in the scale of clerks, which remains at:

Rs.4410 – 13210 over a 19 year period.

Sample Job titles for each scale

Please note that different Public sector banks provide different Job titles and the following Job title’s are only for reference:

JMGS I – Probationary Officer/ Assistant Manager

MMGS II – Manager

MMGS III – Senior Manager

SMGS IV – Divisional Manager

SMGS V – Assistant General Manager

There may also be a TMGS (Top management grade scale) that will have titles like GM, MD and Chairman.

ibps take exam on 12th basis but why recruit on degree basis?

In public sector bank the salary of a clerk is normally vary from 12000 to 20000.
Actually it depends on that bank you are working with.
Here I'm giving you some example for it.

SBI CLERK :around 13000
UBI CLERK :around 12000
RBI CLERK :around 14000
ICICI BANK CLERK :around 14000
AXIS BANK CLERK :around 12000
