Re: How to prepare for GATE?
hi chatanya,
this is vikash i think these competitive are no better than our school exams if you would look at the question being asked in the gate, jee, aieee actually they contain the most common questions but having an edge over our school's straight forward questions and you can have that sharpness by thinking on even simplest questions rather solving it because the questions being asked in comp. exams are unseen for us and the man who sets it have the same syllabus that we have but he thinks that where the student can make mistake in realising it so from today itself you start thinking on each question that they asked earlier and you will really realise that these contain the topics that are always being remain uncared ,or we are lacking proper information about that topic and remember it is only you who are going to do everything so never feel that i can't do it,the moment you say it you are already lost talking about materials which you should use 0. before starting any study have a full fresh mind 1. you select by your own a book that contains the topic there in your syllabus and stay affix to it but you should select it your own wisely 2. have a look over the contents of the topic and then go through previous year paper on that topic and then compare your understanding and your lackness 3. never be dependent on any guider i.e. any teacher it is you only sufficient to look after your life and be optimistic BEST OF LUCK FOR YOUR FUTURE |

Re: How to prepare for GATE?
dear friend,
all competitive exams need a well before hand preparation. but there is nothing to get panicked or tensed. what you simply and basically need to do is understand the usual pattern of the exam. just go through some of the previous question papers, to know the patern. based on it find out the regions in which you might be weak and give more concentration to them. there are gate books available to help you with that. start taking back all your books starting from the third semester and start studying or revising them. you should be technically sound to come out successfully. simultaneously, have practice sessions too by solving some of the mock tests that are present in the gate books. have a relaxed study schedule of atleast one hour a day if you have a minimum of one year in hand. all the very best. God bless you. |

dear friend you have very less time so dont go any where just purchase a 10 year solved paper book of made easy and notes of gateforum or acc coaching classes

Re: How to prepare for GATE?
to prepare for GATE first you should go through the GATE syllabus. then you should go through the previous year question papers for GATE.
then decide from the syllabus which portion of the syllabus you have already completed with care at the time of B.Tech or after revising which portion will be completed. then try to cover the portion of the syllabus. buy some good books from market and try to solve that book. for preparation first try to cover the maximum portion of mathematics. because atleast 25marks comes from mathematics. so if you can solve at least 15 marks then it will be very easy to qualify GATE for you. after that concentrate on aptitude part. this part contains 15marks. so if you can secure at least 6 to 8 marks from it then you are almost qualified. now solve some question from you departmental technical subject and you will crack the GATE examination. here i gave a view for general candidate. if you are a very good student and you want to secure a good marks then try to solve each question from any part of the syllabus. try to study the whole syllabus. best wishes. |

Re: How to prepare for GATE?
Hi
I do not know your branch so I am giving a general answer applicable to all branch. You have to cover as much as possible your syllabus upto just before last month. If you are an appearing candidate for 30 jan 2011 exam then your syllabus should be revised at this month only. Just one month before you have to start practice set of GATE :It may be online http://www.gateprep.com/ or purchase any practice set available in the market. For GATE 2012 you can start preparation by joining correspondence course like brilliant tutorials with your B.TECH./B.E. books. Thorough study required in all portion of syllabus with complete assignment given by brilliant tutorials study materials . This material with reference books/ text books of your branch is more than enough for preparation and getting higher percentile/rank. In these materials all syllabus with monthly study plan are given so just you have to follow that. This study material will also give you test papers time to time so you need not worry. I hope you got your answer . Best of luck. If you want specific answer in any branch specify. |

Re: How to prepare for GATE?
The best way to prepare for GATE is to refer the test books right from the first year.Be strong in your core subjects like C,C++,Java,Blue J.Be strong in the languages part so that you can answer any type of question asked on them.
Look into the previous year question papers so that you get a clear picture of the type of questions being asked in GATE. Refer textbooks of standard authors and publications like Computer science by Balaguru Swamy,B.A Forouzan and R.F Gillberg. Data Structures by Mark Allen Weiss,Pearson Education. Unix and Shell Programming by Richard .F,Gillberg,Thomson. Software Engineering by K.k Agrwal and Yogesh SIngh,New Age publications Programming Languages by Louden,Second edition,Thomson. Computer organization and Architecture by William Stallings. All the best, prepare well |

Re: How to prepare for GATE?
To prepare for gate.
First thing is collect the old papers of gate by surfing in the internet. Collect at least 10 papers, you will get to know the degree of difficultness based on your knowledge. Then start working hard in the same way. Higher the difficultiness, more effort should be given. Secondly, study and understand the basics subjects of your branch first. Because, these basics are the one which leads to higher derivations. Thirdly, understand the concept, and think in a simpler way to answer. Fourthly, study atleast 3 hours a day, you will suceed in it. |

hi bonala.chaitanya
For preparing for GATE,first of all you have to clear certain points about the examination and the question paper pattern: 1.The questions asked in exams are really really conceptual. So if your concepts are clear then questions are really easy for you. 2.Do not waste time on coaching or any tution if you are preparing for GATE 2011,since exam is on 13 February,so it's time for you to sit on your chair and revise everything you have studied until now and make your fundamentals more clear. 3.There are many books available in market for GATE,so you can refer any of them.Remember you just need a guidance. So refer to syllabus and analyze each subject according to their weight in exam and 'your interest'. 4.Go through the sample papers and previous year papers so that you can have a clear idea about the question paper.Solve these papers so that you can know your speed and you can practice to schedule your time for each section. 5.Finish through reading of a chapter of subject, make short notes of important points, this will help you at last moment to revise what you have read. 6.Have faith. All the best |

Re: How to prepare for GATE?
GATE preparation requires the same effort and hard work similar to the preparation of college exams. Be much focused while studying. The GATE focus on in-depth understanding of the subjects and basics. Always follow standard books intended for GATE exam and prepare notes after every chapter. You can also conduct group study with friends to share and improve each other’s knowledge. Follow the pattern of study, test, evaluate and improve.

Re: How to prepare for GATE?
Here i am providing you some guidelines which will be helpful for you for your GATE preparation.
-Prepare a time table for yourself so that you can complete the syllabus in time. -Allocate priorities to the subjects on the basis of how you feel whether ease or difficult. -Go through previous year question papers of GATE exam so that you may have the chance to get the same questions or questions in the same pattern. -Collect yourself some notes from several resources like GATE forums and other online available GATE materials. This will let you know the essential questions that you need to prepare. -Purchase GATE questions and answers book. As soon as you complete a particular topic or unit, go through several questions from the GATE questions and answers book. This will let you know the way how the questions are being asked. -My sincere suggestion is not to prepare for the exam by soft copy that is by using a system. Because there is every chance that you may shift to other entertainment activities like music from your PC. |
