Since the GATE examination is well split into sections i.e Mathematics and the other section covering your core subjects.Over all you can prefer books of G.K Publisher's but it's even better that you prefer a group of books right from your 1st year.Starting from your basics the important subjects are Network Theory and Electronic Devices and Circuits.The other subjects are also very useful but without going through EDC it's tough to understand the rest of the subjects since it's the basic part.

For the 1st Part you can prefer books of
Higher Engineering Mathematics by Dr. B. S. Grewal
Advanced Engineering Mathematics by Erwin Kreyszig
GATE Engineering Mathematics by Kanodia

For the 2nd Part you can prefer books of

2.Computer Networks: A Systems Approach, Second Edition (The Morgan Kaufmann Series in Networking)

I think these are best books and sufficient for your preparation.

Also, you can solve last years question papers for good preparation and to get idea for the exam pattern

there are so many good books in market for GATE EC paper. the book GATE by G K Publishers is very much popular book for various engineering branch. but there are lots of mistake in this book. you must be aware of these mistake when you will go through this book.
