Re: M.Tech in Robotics colleges in India and Abroad? Annual fee structure?
Well dear ROBOTICS this word is now becoming a phobia among Engineering students. Every one wants to explore once career in this sector, but only handful candidates opt for it because from actual professional point of India is very far behind in this sector.
Robotics is a field of engineering that deal with design and application of robots and the use of computer for their manipulation and processing. Robots are used in industries for speeding up the manufacturing process. They are also used in the field of nuclear science, sea-exploration, servicing of transmission electric signals, designing of bio-medical equipments etc. Robotics requires the application of computer integrated manufacturing, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, biological mechanics, software engineering and the like. Followings are the branchs of Robotics engineering in which one can specialise:- Artificial Intelligence. (Generally opted by Computer, electronics Engineers). Computer Aided Manufacturing. (Generally opted by Mechanical, Computer, Electrical etc. engineers). Computational Geometry.(Generally opted by Computer Engineers) Robot Motion Planning.(Generally opted by MEchanical Engineers) Digital Electronics and Micro-processors. (Generally opted by Electronics) Robot Manipulators. (Generally opted byMechanical, mechatronics etc.) The Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering & Computer Science Departments of the IIT's offer courses in Computer Science with specialization in Artificial Intelligence, which is an integral part of Robotics. Mainly following Institutes in India offers courses in Robotics:- Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh National Institute of Technology, the University of Hyderabad- M.Tech in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Jadavpur University, Kolkata Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, Prasanthinilayam, Tamil Nadu- M.Tech PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu) Mechanical (Robotics as an elective subject) Where as if we talk at International Level, then MIT is considered as the Father of Modern Robotics in the World. After that, Purdue University, West Lafayette Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis Indiana State University Carnegie Mellon University University of Southern California After persuing master dgree in robotics you can specialize in the followings types of jobs and all:- Robots in Commerce – Retail, Services, Fields, Robots in the home – Maids, Washing Car, Doing Chores, Mowing the Lawn, Robots in Security – Guards, Guard Dogs, Bomb Sniffers, Bomb Squads, Robots to the Rescue – FEMA, Earthquake, Hurricanes, Wild Fires Robots for the Weather and Environment – Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Robots in Transportation – Light Rail, Cars, Aircraft Robots in Distribution – Trains, Warehouses Robotic Androids – Assistants, Mentors, Educators Robots and Artificial Intelligence – Thinking Machines and Systems Robots in the Military – Smart Munitions, Net-Centric Systems, UAVs However,it is also true that due to lack of awareness among the students about this course and lack of advanced technology in india furure of robotics is some what dull, but soon it is going to be boom the market. Basically in India, Ancillary Industries, Tata Motors, Mahindra are few recruiters. Regards ~Faiyaz~ |

However, let me tell you that since you are already a B.Tech (CSE) student you have some vast oppurtunities to persue courses in your master level. As there courses like- M.Tech (AI), MCA (AI) are the tings which can provide you the best solution whats you nee. After Master degree a wonderful oppurtunity for P.hd would also be available for you. However, if we talk about some short term course after B.Tech then I would suggest you following Institutes:- CDAC, Mumbai Centre for Arificial Intelligence and Robotics, Banglore are the best one which has also Industrial training in AI available. Re: M.Tech in Robotics colleges in India and Abroad? Annual fee structure?
Robotics is the study of robots, creating them, maintaining and controlling using programmes. You can foresee your bright future in the areas of agriculture, mining, manufacturing, power plant areas etc. Robotics itself has got several scope of specialization. You can pursue mechanical engineering if you want to specialize in the controlling part. You can join for electronics btech if you are interested in the hardware section of robots and electrical if you are interested in manufacturing part.
Other than all the Indian Institutes of Technology, institutes like Birla Institute of Technology and Science, National Institutes of Technology, Hyderabad. PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, Prasanthinilayam(Tamil Nadu) and Jadavpur University, Kolkata offer courses. There are many institutes abroad which offer courses. It depends on which country you would like to study and also the financial aspects needs to be taken into consideration. Some of the institutes which offer course are University of Pennsylvania, Carnegie Mellon University in United States, Bath University and Staffordshire University in United Kingdom. |

Re: M.Tech in Robotics colleges in India and Abroad? Annual fee structure?
Well, I dont think if any Indian Institute have Robotics course in there B.Tech. Generally all are at Master level. Yeah few exceptions are there. For example- One can study CSE with specialisation in "Arificial Intelligence" (AI), but he/she also have to go master level later or earlier. And I also believe and strongly recommend that if someone wants to explore career in Robotics then he/she doesn't search for courses in bachelor level simplely opt for variou specialisation at master level according to ones specialisation in bachelor degree. Departments of Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Computer engineering of All Old 7 IIT's have some specialised courses in Robotics, but all are for Master ones. Quote:
And also being an IT Engineer path to robotics is very difficult. You can only opt for something from programming or AI side. Regards ~Faiyaz~ |

If you have done B.Tech (IT) then you can surely expect admission in M.Tech/M.E. CSE. Even GATE allows to do so. First, Preferance are given to B.Tech CSE graduates, but IT are also free and accepted by even IIT's. So, dont worry for that just prepare and score high in GATE. Brst of Luck |

Other tha IIIT, Allahabad and university of hyderabad, one can also pursue M.tech (robotics engineering) from UPES Dehradun. First of its kind, the university has carved a niche for itself in the educational sector in a very short duration. Its M.tech (Robotic Engineering) program provides greater intelligence and higher versatility for robotic tasks under ever-changing constraints of the environment. Students are provided in-depth knowledge in the areas of Electro Mechanics, Robotics Sensors & Instrumentation, Robotics Fabrication, Artificial Intelligence and Robotic Vision. This builds a super specialization on fundamental background of core engineering.

Robotics is upcoming field and soon it is going to become a hot property in engineering sector. As the program is so good and people are getting to know about it, Indian universities have started offering these programs but not many ar famous for this program. One of the university which is famous for this program is UPES. I have heard that its programs and faculty, both are famous in pan asia region.
