Re: What is the scope of Robotics in India? Institutes having robotics engineering?
Nice question adil
Robotics is a field of engineering that deal with design and application of robots and the use of computer for their manipulation and processing. Robots are used in industries for speeding up the manufacturing process. They are also used in the field of nuclear science, sea-exploration, servicing of transmission electric signals, designing of bio-medical equipments etc. Robotics requires the application of computer integrated manufacturing, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, biological mechanics, software engineering and the like. Followings are the branchs of Robotics engineering in which one can specialise:- Artificial Intelligence. Computer Aided Manufacturing. Computational Geometry. Robot Motion Planning. Digital Electronics and Micro-processors. Robot Manipulators. In India there is no robotics in under graduate level, you have to go for M.tech. Only mechanical, elctrical, computer and electronics engineers are eligible for persuing M.tech in robotics. The premier institute in Robotics is The Center for Robotics and Mechatronics at IIT (Indian Institute of Technology), Kanpur which offers a Master's Degree Course in Robotics.Admission is through valid GATE score. The Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering & Computer Science Departments of the IIT's offer courses in Computer Science with specialization in Artificial Intelligence, which is an integral part of Robotics. Mainly following Institutes in India offers courses in Robotics:- Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh National Institute of Technology, the University of Hyderabad- M.Tech in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Jadavpur University, Kolkata Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, Prasanthinilayam, Tamil Nadu- M.Tech PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu) Mechanical (Robotics as an elective subject) After persuing master dgree in robotics you can specialize in the followings types of jobs and all:- Robots in Commerce – Retail, Services, Fields, Robots in the home – Maids, Washing Car, Doing Chores, Mowing the Lawn, Robots in Security – Guards, Guard Dogs, Bomb Sniffers, Bomb Squads, Robots to the Rescue – FEMA, Earthquake, Hurricanes, Wild Fires Robots for the Weather and Environment – Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Robots in Transportation – Light Rail, Cars, Aircraft Robots in Distribution – Trains, Warehouses Robotic Androids – Assistants, Mentors, Educators Robots and Artificial Intelligence – Thinking Machines and Systems Robots in the Military – Smart Munitions, Net-Centric Systems, UAVs However,it is also true that due to lack of awareness among the students about this course and lack of advanced technology in india furure of robotics is some what dull, but soon it is going to be boom the market. |

Re: What is the scope of Robotics in India? Institutes having robotics engineering?
hello friend.
There is a good scope for robotics engineers in india. The IT companies are doinga a lot of embedded and robotics projects for europe and US. If you consider *true* indian opportunities, with chandrayan project ahed there will be a big boost for robotics. But you are at entry level. So have to gain some gain some experience to appreciation. best of luck. |

Re: What is the scope of Robotics in India? Institutes having robotics engineering?
Dear Friend,
At first I will say you that your idea about the approaching of the study is superb.Robotics is already spreads their huge popularity in any field. However,It is very good thing that you wanna be a Robotics engineer. Robotics engineering is such as a subject which is related to design and application of Computer Sc. & Electronics using the robots . I think there are no such availability of Robotics in India in graduation degree. So,for completing the course you have to go for M.tech ,completing the B.Tech in the streams of Computer Sc. , Electronics , Mechanical,Electrical. You have to choose one of the following in Robotics subjects: 1:Artificial Intelligence. 2:Robot Motion Planning. 3:Computer Aided Manufacturing. 4:Robot Manipulators. etc.... Through the GATE exam you can go for M.Tech in Kanpur-IIT in Robotics Engineering. Beside this colleges there are some colleges: 1:National Institute of Technology(NIT), Hyderabad only for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics 2:Birla Institute of Technology and Science(BITS), Pilani 3:Jadavpur University, Kolkata 4:PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore ,Tamil Nadu etc.... At last I wanna say you that it is a tough most subject so,study properly, there are so many job opportunities for you. Good luck. |
