Is maths a compulsory subject for BCA courses or not?
sir,
I am a bio-computer student. I do not have maths as one of my subjects in +2. I like IT courses and expect to get above 85% marks in my +2. is it possible to get an admission for B.C.A courses without maths? If not, is there any other computer science courses I can applay? |

In general maths is not required as a compulsory subjects for bca as many universities allow students from commerce and even arts to do bca...but one more thing you need to be careful about is if u want to pursue mca....because for some university(take for ex pune) for doing bca maths is not compulsory in +2 but for doing mca you should have maths as a subject in +2....you haven't specified from where do u want to do your bca course...provide that so as to facilitate more....

dear friend
Yes, maths is compulsory subject for BCA, If you dont have maths in 12th, then you will not get admission in BCA. either maths or computer science is compulsory in 12th to get admission in BCA. If you study without Maths , it would be difficult for higher studies, to get suitable job in future & to sucessfully carry out your duties even if you get a job............. ok all the best. |

yes friend maths is a compulsary paper for BCA , if you are not a student of math then there are a provision to appear for another test conducted by exam authority. & you can eligible for BCA.
& so many courses you can do except BCA , ie. DCA,DOEAC(A,B,C levels) etc. but you have to do these courses privately which is not considered as your graduation degree. All the best. |

Yes of course dear why not. You are definitely eligible for persuing BCA, just go for it. But remember, problem will arise if you will opt for MCA. Thats because for persuing MCA having Mathematics as one of the Main subject is compulsory, so that in future you wont be able to persue MCA. But dont worry, at that time they would be numerous oppurtunities for you at that time. For eample at that time You can for M.sc (IT/Computer science), MBA (IT) etc. Best of luck ![]() |

For all the computer subject degrees (B.Sc, B.C.A and MSc and M.C.A) maths is the backbone for the algorithm and programming. It is a mandatory subject. So try to cope with this and prepare well for the maths and face the same. Mostly, the B.C.A maths is more or less like the +2 maths. If you prepare well from the beginning you can achieve well. All the Best !!!!!!!!!! |

Any course in computer application demands some basic knowledge in mathematics. Maths is usually included in the curriculum of all BCA courses, but there are some colleges, which doesnt insist on Maths proficiency, but when they want to go for MCA, again knowledge in maths is again one of the requirement for getting admission to good colleges.

Dear Ansh. For persuing BCA having MAthematics as one of the compulsary subject in +2 is not mandatory. Even a Arts student can opt for it. Yeah it is fact that student has to study Pure/Computational Mathematics at BCA. But there is no restriction for non- Maths students. Even Many of my friends are persuing BCA from WBUT. They would have to face problem if they want to opt for MCA, at that time they would not be allowed to do so. As because having Maths as one of the main subject in +2 is compulsary for it. |

Yeah you can apply for BCA, But not for MCA. For MCA having MAthematics as one of the main subject in +2 is mandatory. But it fact that if a non- Maths student opts for BCA he suffers much. That's because there he/she have to study some Pure MAthematics. Best of Luck ![]() |

Hey there is no boundation for BCA course. If you dont have maths in +2 dont worry you may get addmission in any college. Now, many college provide BCA without maths. But in BCA you have paper of maths like you have to study basic maths and discrete maths and Computer oriented numerical methods. So when you get addmission please prepare your maths background. Generally it is required that maths should be there as it is helpful in BCA. but there are many colleges which didn't demand maths in 10+2 and provide BCA degree. If you are interested in doing MBA you should do 10+2 maths through open schoola ny and also carry on your BCA degree too. It will be helpful to in near future.
BEstof luck!!!!!!! |

But having maths in 10+2 helps in doing better in BCA. Best of luck!!!!!!!!!! |
