Port management is the management of ports. Its a very unique subject.
Large ports need to deal with a number of disparate activities: the movement of ships, containers and other cargo, the loading and unloading of ships and containers, customs activities. As well as human resources, anchorages, channels, lighters, tugs, berths, warehouse and other storage spaces have to be allocated and released. The efficient management of a port involves managing these activities and resources, managing the flows of money involved between the agents providing and using these resources, and providing management information.

Course Details:
MBA Shipping and Port Management is a rare course conducted by very few universities and institutions in India. The minimum qualification for MBA (Shipping & Port) Management is a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology. However some institutes even allows science and management graduates.

Career Prospects:
Shipping and Port Managers can find suitable employment opportunities in government departments like Railways and Defence. PSUs like Shipping Corporation and other agencies in the field of logistics and shipping are favoured place for shipping managers. you want to do MBA course with port management.there is lot of scope in port management. it has more opportunities from others.you can live a luxurious life with this.it having good scale and royal life.

This sector is getting tremendous boot through private sector participation in major ports on the one hand and on the other hand, about 55 are stepping up coastal trade and overseas trade. The management professionals from these trade are recruited as port operations manager, container yard manager, chartering manager, port planning and development .
