You are absolutely correct.There are thousands of books floating around for preparation of bank P.O and Clerk Exams conducted by I.B.P.S through Common Written Exam(CWE).

As i had cleared the I.B.P.S P.O CWE exam conducted in 2011.So i am writing a list of the most relevant books which are going to help you in the common written exam(CWE) for both P.O(Probationary Officer) and Clerical post.

There are 5 Sections under Objective Type(Reasoning, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness and Computer Knowledge) of 250 questions with 250 marks and of 150 minutes duration.There is also a Descriptive type paper which would be consisting of English Composition,Essay, Precis, Letter Writing of 25 marks and the duration will be 60 minutes.The mark secured in the Descriptive section will only be calculated if you get more marks than the required cut-off marks in each section of Objective type test.

I am writing the name of the best and most recommended books section-wise for IBPS PO and other PO and Clerical Exams.The books are:-

REASONING:-
1. A modern approach to Verbal Reasoning by R.S Aggarwal (Rs.425)
2. A modern approach to Non Verbal Reasoning by R.S Aggarwal (Rs.300)
3. A modern approach to both Verbal and Non Verbal Reasoning by R.S. Aggarwal (Rs.695)

QUANTITATIVE APTITUDE/NUMERICAL ABILITY:-
1. Quantitative Aptitude by R.S. Aggarwal (Rs.440)
2. Numerical Ability and Quantitative Aptitude by R.S. Aggarwal (Rs.425)

ENGLISH LANGUAGE/GENERAL ENGLISH:-
1. Objective General English by R.S. Aggarwal (Rs.425)
2. Objective English for Competition by Hari Prasad (Rs.365)
You must also read the other school books of English Language for getting strong in Grammar and Vocabulary.You should also read English Newspapers daily and also watch the English News on T.V. You must try to learn the accent of speaking and sentence making.It will help you always.Also practice with someone else like any of your friends or family members.

GENERAL AWARENESS AND CURRENT AFFAIRS:-
1. General Awareness and Current Affairs by M. Laxmikanth (Rs.399)
2. Guide to Banking related General Awareness by RPH Editorial (Rs.130)
3. Last 6 Months(Prior to the month of exam) Edition/Issues of Pratiyogita Darpan Magazine (Rs.75*6)
Pratiyogita Darpan is a very good magazine for preparing for Banking exams.
You should read it thoroughly.It also has some previous year solved papers.Pratiyogita Darpan is available at all Book Stores/Magazine Stores.

COMPUTER KNOWLEDGE:-
1. Objective Computer Awareness by R. Pillai (Rs.95)
2. Upkars Guide for Computer Awareness
3. NSB(National School of Banking) Book for Computer Fundamentals.
You must also follow the books of School level Computer books which consist of all the basic fundamentals of computers which is also called Computers for Beginners.

Besides reading these section-wise books you must read thoroughly the complete guide books or reference books like:-
1. Bank P.O and Management Trainee Common Written Exam Guide By RPH Editorial Board (Rs. 365)
2. Bank PO Solved Papers for Probationary Officer and Management Trainee Common Written Examination 2012 By Kiran Prakashan (Rs.345)
3. Bank PO/MT Common Written Exam By Kiran Prakashan (Rs.576)
