Hi. How good is the National institute of Port Management, Chennai? Also, can i have a list of courses offered by them?

National Institute of Port Management is an IGNOU Recognized Center for the Program - "IGNOU Bachelor of Science (Nautical Science)"
It is located at East Coast Road, Uthandi, Chennai, Tamilnadu.

Note: Above given are parts of the three year B.Sc., Nautical Science Degree Programme.
On completion of this programme, student obtains a diploma in Nautical Science from IGNOU.

COURSE DURATION: 3 years

Eligibility Criteria
(1) 10+2 or equivalent with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry with a PCM aggregate of not less than 60% and English as a separate subject with 50% in 10 th or 12 th standard
Or
(2) B.Sc (Hons) or B.Sc (General) with PCM or E with minimum of 55% marks
Or
(3) BE/BTech Degree from IIT or from a college recognized by AICTE and should have passed in the English language as a subject, at either 10 th or 12 th standard or in the Degree/Diploma course, conducted by the Board or any University with not less than 50% marks.

Age:
For (1) Not more than 20 years
For (2) Not more than 22 years and
For (3) Not more than 24 years
on date of admission to the training course

Physical Standards
Medically fit as per the standards set by MS Medical Examination Rules, 2000
Eyesight: 6/6 in each eye without visual aids. Normal color vision. Candidate have to undergo a full eyesight test before applying for final selection

Applications can be obtained from NIPM. It can also be downloaded from the IGNOU website (www.ignou.ac.in)
Last date: May ; Entrance test: June.

I like to know about MBA in Shipping and port management in distance learning... I did Diploma in Marine and am working in ship past 6 year now am able seaman in Tanker ship... i like to get shore job so if i do Mba in shipping and port management course will i get a good shore job... having diploma is it possible to do MBA...

If you want a good teaching and training do not prefer national institute of port management...

I doubt if the institute exists since when I click the website I get a page saying 'under construction' and none of the telephone numbers mentioned herein above are correct. if anyone can help providing the updated telephone numbers, email address together with info. reg.schedule and fee for ASM and SMS courses I shall be highly grateful.
