OBC stands for Other Backward Castes and the same category are the category which more often than not are socially and economically challenged people and hence for their upliftment they are provided with the facilities of reservation in the government jobs or admissions in the government institutes as per the government norms.

As per the constitution of India, 27% seats are reserved for OBC category. Apart from OBC, SC & ST category also have the provision of reservation of 15% and 7.5% respectively.

These category do also enjoy the provision of age relaxation in the upper age limit in various jobs and examination. These categories also get marks relaxation for qualifying any examination or for appearing in any entrance examination.
