Hi ..am swathy doing final year B.E. ECE.. i dono how to choose the optional subjects for UPSC preliminary exams..pls give me some idea..

The Preliminary exam has been replaced by civil service aptitude test and it no more comprise of optional papers. There will be two compulsory papers in the first stage of the examination -civil service aptitude test.

Paper I will comprise of questions from the following subject area:
Current Affairs
History of India and Indian national movement
Indian and World Geography
Indian Polity and governance
Economic and social development
General issues on environmental ecology, bio-diversity and climate change
General science.

Paper II has been designed to check the candidates aptitude and hence, the questions in this paper comprise of the following subject area:
Comprehension
Interpersonal skills including communication skills
Logical reasoning and analytical ability
Decision making and problem solving
General mental ability
Basic numeracy
Data interpretation
English language comprehension skills

Preliminary examination can divided into two papers and both paper are objective.

Paper - I

• Current affairs

• Indian polity and governance
• Economic and Social development
• General issues
• General Science

Paper - II

• Comprehension
• Interpersonal Skills including communication skills
• Logical reasoning and analytical skills
• Decision making and problem solving
• General mental ability
• Basic numeracy
• English language comprehension skills

Main examination :-



Tips for preparation :-

• Prepare the previous question papers and solve the papers.
• Don't waste the time,start preparation now on wards.
• Learn some short cuts for logical and problem solving.
• Daily update your self for reading news.
• Lots of books are available in the market.
