** VAO stands for Village Administrative Officers and for the recruitment of these officers an exam is conducted by the Tamilnadu Public Service Commission. Almost every year TNPSC takes this exam whenever there is a vacancy for this post. This year the vacancy for this post is as high as 1870. The exam is due in September.

** Out of the total seats vacant 30% are kept reserved for women, 5% for ex-servicemen and 3% for the physically handicapped candidates. If women of that number does not applies then the rest of the reserved vacant seats are filled up by men of that exact number.

** To sit for this exam you need to be a 10th pass out. If you have higher qualifications then also you can apply for this post but the S.S.L.C certificate is a must as that is the minimum qualification required for this post.

** The lower age limit for giving this exam is 21 years. This rule is binding on all no matter what their category is. The upper age limit for general category candidate is 30 years. There is age relaxation for the reserved category candidates. Their upper age limit is 40 years.

** If you get selected then you will be posted in the villages of Tamilnadu. The local language of the villagers is Tamil. So it is very important for you to know this language properly to free communicate with them.

** Even if you do not know the language well you can still apply. But in that case you need to give the Tamil language exam which is also conducted by the TNPSC.

** Physically fit candidates will only be allowed to give this exam. To prove your medical fitness you need to show medical certificates to the authorities concerned at the time of examination.

** Written examination is of vital importance because the selection procedure is basically based on this only. Other than this the district you have chosen or the number of reservations of the district in concern is also taken into consideration.

** For the exam questions will come from the following sections: General Knowledge and General English/General Tamil. The first paper is bilingual. So you will get the option to answer the paper in the language you are most comfortable in. The second paper is optional and your preference regarding which paper you want to answer needs to be stated in the application form itself.

** All total you have to face 200 questions and you wil get only three hours' time to complete the whole paper. Out of the 300 marks allotted for the exam you need to get minimum 90 marks to qualify.

Exam Pattern:

** Cost of the application form for general category candidates is Rs. 125 and for reserved category candidates is Rs. 50.

** The application process as you must be knowing it for this year is already over. Notifications were released in the month of June. So if you have already applied for it then by August's third week you will be able to download the hall tickets. Exam is on September and results will come out in the month of November.

TNPSC VAO Exam Date 2012: 30th September 2012 (10am-1pm)
