DETAILS REGARDING IES EXAM
Indian Engineering exam is conducted by the UPSC every year.
This exam is conducted for the engineering students who
studied in the following branch of engineering:

CIVIL ENGINEERING
MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
ELECTRONICS AND TELECOMMUNICATION ENGINEERING


Education Qualification
Candidate applying for the IES exam should have a degree
of engineering in any discipline in any of the subject mentioned
above.

Age Limit
For the IES exam candidate age should be between 21 and 30 years.

Since you are in electrical engineering branch. So your exam is based
on following pattern.

Pattern for IES exam are as follows: -

IES (Indian Engineering Service) Examination are conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission).

The IES examination is conducted in two parts i.e.

1. Written Tests = Consisting of 5 papers of 200 marks each.

Paper - I = General Ability includes General English, General Studies, Indian History, Geography. [Objective Type]

Paper - II & III = It includes relevant questions from engineering stream. [Objective Type]

Paper - IV & V = It includes relevant questions from engineering stream. [Subjective Type]

2. Personality Test = Interview

First of all it is not IES, it is called Engineering Service Examination.

IES stands for Indian Economic Services and Im sure, you are not applying for it.

The Engineering Service exam is conducted by the UPSC, for the selection of engineers for various posts.

The exam is conducted in the following categories:

1.Civil Engineering
2.Mechanical Engineering
3.Electrical Engineering
4.E&C Engineering

So you can appear for the ECE paper.

Eligibility:

Age:
Candidate must be minimum 21 years of age as on 1st August of the yera of the exam.
Upper age limit is 30 years(Relaxations for SC/ST, OBC).

Educational Qualification:
You must have a bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized university.
Final Year students may also apply.


Plan Of examination:

There will 2 types of papers. Objective and Conventional.

Paper I OBJECTIVE:

*General Ability Test (Part A: General English)(Part B: General Studies)
*Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering Paper I
*Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering Paper II

The duration of each paper is of 2 hours and each carries 200 marks.

PAPER II CONVENTIONAL:

*Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering Paper I
*Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering Paper II

The duration of each paper in this category is of 3 hours and they carry 200 marks each.

So total of both categories is 1000 marks.

IES exam will be based on ur subjects what u have studied in engineering...it matters stream to stream refer the website for full syllabus of ur trade....all the best

hi friend...
patterns which are followed for IES exam.. are as follows..
there are tow parts... in par 1...there is tow section consisting of only objective types of questions and in section 11 of conventional papers.. both section will cover the entire syllabus...

in the second part... personality test carrying a maximum of 200 marks of such of the candidates who qualify on the basis of the written examinations are there..
