Physical Fitness requirements of CDS

Dear Friend

The physical fitness criteria of Combined Defence Services is variable according to
the wing of CDS you choose.

You can choose any one from the below for CDS examination.
1. Indian Military Academy
2. Indian Naval Academy
3. Indian Air Force
4. Officers' Training Academy

The fitness criteria is different for different services.

Kindly refer the CDS advertisement for the detailed physical fitness criteria.

The advertisement for the next CDS examination is attached with this message.

The last date of receipt of application is 28th November 2011.

This examination is conducted by the UPSC [UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION], every years,.
Through this examination, one can apply for all the branches of the Indian army i.e. naval,air force,military.
The minimum educational requirement for this examination is a graduation degree from a recognized college.
For apply in Air force & in Naval force , one must have graduation degree with Physics & maths with at least 60%.


The age limit for this examination is 19-23 years for the AIR FORCE.
19-23 FOR THE NAVAL ,
19-25 YEARS FOR THE MILITARY FORCE.

*Candidate pass graduation in any stream
*Age- 21 to 27 years
Must be an Indian.

There is no physical requirements for CDS exam.

CDS exam is conducted to admit the aspirant to the army, navy and airforce. There are eligibility based on the
For admitting the aspirant to army and navy only unmarried make aspirant are eligible.
For offices training academy unmarried male aspirants are eligible
for offices training academy both married and unmarried male aspirant are eligible
for army the eligibility required is a bachelor degree from any discipline.
For navy and airforce the aspirant should have completed degree in engineering.
The physical standard differ with respect to the age. The minimum weight of the aspirant can be 44 kg at the age of 18 with height of 152 cm. The maximum weight of the aspirant can be 78 kg at the age of 22 with height 192 cm. 10% relaxation is allowed for each of the criteria.
The expansion of the chest is 5cm.
The aspirant should have normal hearing and eye sight

According to the Eligibility Criteria:

i)For IMA and OTA you must have any degree from any recognized University.

ii)For Naval Academy you should have B.Sc in Physics or Mathematics or Bachelor of Engineering(BE).

iii)For (AFA) you should have the degree of recognized University with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level or Bachelor of Engineering(BE)

After the completion of your graduation, you can apply for the CDSE (COMBINED DEFENCE SERVICES EXAMINATION),..As you have just got 59% (no offence!!!!), you are not eligible for the Indian air force & naval academy, as they require at least 60% in graduation.So you can only apply for the Indian military academy (IMA)



But for apply in naval(NA) & in air force wing(IAF), you must have engineering degree or equivalent degree from a recognized college with the minimum marks of at least 60%.

The age limit for this examination is 19-23 years [for air force]
19-24 years [for the naval]
19-25 years [for IMA military].

Last years candidates can also apply.

CDS stands for Combined Defence Service.
This exam is conducted by UPSC twice in a year.
For this exam, the candidate must complete his/her graduation from any recognized university.
The candidate of final year in his graduation can also apply for this exam.

The eligibility criteria for CDS exam :-
1] For Indian Air Force and Indian Navy, the candidate must have graduation with Maths and Physics.
2] For Indian Army , the candidate must have graduation in any discipline from any recognized university.
3] The age limit of the candidate must be
-19 to 22 years for Indian Navy
-19 to 23 years for Indian Air Force
-19 to 25 years for Indian Army

The candidate must be physically and medically fit.

The physical requirements are listed below:

>>The candidate shouldn't have any postural deformities like flat foot and knock knees.

>>The candidate must not be overweight.

>>The minimum height required for male candidate is 157.5 cms and for female candidate is 152 cms.

>>The candidate must not be suffered from any disease related to bones and joints of the body.

>>The candidate should not have problem of mental breakdown and fits.

>>The candidate must have 6/6 eye. Correction through glasses are allowed.

>>The elbow angle should not be more than 15 degree in male candidate and 18 degree in female candidate.

The Full Form of CDS is Combined Defense Services. The Union Public Service Commission conducts the Combined Defense Services Examination twice every year.

when I was in 9th class I had gynecomastia on my left chest. just a small tissue. before it started growing I used medicines and it stopd growing.
Now the small tissue exist but cannot be noticed unless touched.

I am a CDSE aspirant..and ya, ive been preparing for it. currently im pursuing engineering with civil as my stream.. and still i ve two more years to be in exam hall.. but my problem is i had my hand fractured when i was 12 years of age, and ma arms were dis-located.. but for right now.. im all fit and fine, and great sportsmen indeed.participated in many state level athletic meets.. could lift 50-50 weights in gym... but people say, since ma hand is fractured , i ll be rejected in medical test round.. is that true ???
