Re: Possibility to join NDA for a Commerce aspirant?
Yes, it is possible to join NDA after completion of your 12th standard with Commerce stream. But, you are eligible to join only in Indian Army through NDA examination after completion of your 12th standard with Commerce stream. You should be in the age range of 16.5 to 19.5 years, should be an unmarried male candidate and should be physically fit as per physical standards mentioned in the UPSC NDA examination notification.

Re: Possibility to join NDA for a Commerce aspirant?
NDA is National Defence Academy and entrance examination is conducted by UPSC for recruitment in defence services.
The required minimum qualification to appear for entrance examination is that candidate must have passed or pursing in 12th from a recognised board. The age limit is 16.5-19.5 years. Only male candidates are eligible to appear for examination. Candidates with commerce stream are eligible to appear for examination but are only eligible for recruitment in Indian Army after qualifying for both stages Written and SSB. Re: Possibility to join NDA for a Commerce aspirant?
Commerce candidates can also join NDA.
Actually, NDA has following wings to join.
Science candidates (PCM) can join anyone of the following above wings of NDA. While Commerce candidates can join/apply for Army wing of NDA only. So, even if you have studied 11th and 12th standard with Commerce subjects, you can apply for Army wing of NDA. |

Re: Possibility to join NDA for a Commerce aspirant?
NDA refers to National Defense Academy and for joining the same one has to qualify NDA entrance examinations held by UPSC twice every year.
--> The basic qualifications required to appearing in NDA entrance examination are as here under:- * You must be an unmarried Indian male candidate. * Your age must lie within 16.5 years to 19.5 years. * You must have either completed your Class 12th or going to appear in your Class 12th board examination in any stream from a recognized board of education. In order to join Indian Navy or Indian Air force you are required to have pursued Mathematics and Physics at your Class 12th level. * You must hold the physical and mental fitness as per the service requirement norms. So as far as you are concerned about your eligibility for NDA being a commerce stream student then it is quite evident that you are eligible for appearing in NDA but you can join Indian Army wing only. Re: Possibility to join NDA for a Commerce aspirant?
1. If your ultimate aim is to join National Defence Academy then you should opt science stream in senior secondary board examination because science stream with Physics and Mathematics will allow to become eligible for all wings of Defence.
2. Commerce stream candidates are eligible for NDA exam but you can get into Indian Army only after clearing written test and Service Selection Board. Depending upon your choice of wing, you can select stream in 11th standard. 3. NDA examination is conducted by UPSC twice every year. The age criteria for exam is 16.5 to 19.5 years. 4. Female and married male candidates are not eligible for exam. |
