Dear sir,

I have given my 10th exams from a cbsc school in pune. I wanted to know that is it possible to join Indian air force after my 10th if yes how? and is it possible that afterwords we can opt for flying branch?

Yes friend the one of the process to get into Air force is NDA exam.
NDA exam which is written exam and you have to clear the exam first for getting call for SSb and there you can apply for Air force as wellas army.

I am not getting your question. Are you talking about career after 10th standard in Airforce? If so, Then I am sorry. Only those who completed their intermediate(mean +2) are considered in defence. There is an entry into Airforce for those who completed +2. So I advice you to complete the Intermediate to make a career into Airforce.

If you are asking about continuing your intermediate in there. I dont know, any such options available. Check out.

To join the Indian Air force, you will need to write NDA(National Defence Academy) Exam, conducted by Union Public Service Commission.
The minimum educational qualification required to be eligible to write the exam is 10+2 from a recognised institution.
The minimum eligible age to write the exam is 16 1/2 years and the maximum age is 19 years.
So, it would be better if you work hard for your upcoming exam and prepare for NDA along with it.

Hello Mihir,

After matriculation or passing the 10th standard, you can join in Air Force as an Airman in either Combatant Group 'Y' or Combatant Group 'Z' of the Technical or Non- Technical trades.

For this post you should be aged between 16-20 years(Group-Y) and should be unmarried.

As you will gain experience and show good performance you can be moved on to senior post or officer post.

And with your performance you can shift to the flying branch also.

You cannot join airforce directly. You need to wait till +2 (minimum requirement), with 50% marks in physics & maths.The applicant should have completed 17 years of age.Then you have to undergo a pilot training.If you are selected they will take you.

hi u have 2 given the exams of nda if ur selected ur performance basis will give u which u want

No dear Entering into IAF just after 10th is not possible.


There is no such Scheme in IAF after 10th.

Jobs like- Barber, Cook, Saloon rating are available after it, do you want to get in such kind of job.

Well, at least you have to complete your +2 with science and with 60% aggregate in PCM.

Then you can go through NDA.

NDA: National Defence Academy Examination is a national level competetion conducted by UPSC (http://www.upsc.gov.in) twice every year generally the notifications are released in April-September each year in Employment News.

NDA is a 900 marks Written test consisting of CBSE class 11- 12 PCM nad English and many other subject for General Knowledge.

TES: Technical Entry Scheme is meant for those who have scored at least 70% aggregate in there +2 including PCM.

A little Entrance will be conducted by IAF itself, those who Qualify it will be interviewed and medical fitness test will be conducted. Candidate who will successfully pass all above three phases will be Admitted into Engineering at the TOP Engineering colleges of which are specially meant for Defence services. And then atuomatically will be granted a permanent commission in Technical stream of IAF.

So, first of all complete your +2 then there is various opputunities for you.

It is not possible for you to join Indian air force after X. As if you are interested to join in Indian air force in flying branch then you have to first complete you 10+2. After completing 10+2 you have a option to give NDA through which you can join IAF. But keep in mind one thing that you should choose science stream after X with PCM then only you are eligible for that exam.

there are direct entry of layman,s jobs in army after 10th.
you could adjust the following positions ,if you get 55% in 10th:
a. cammandent helper
b.flight officer
c. pilot surveyor
d. ground on-duty officer

Selections for the I.A.F Airman Non-Technical Trades are made on the basis of a written test divided into three sections: English, Intelligence and General Knowledge. The examination is based on the CBSE (X / XII) curriculum. Questions in these tests will be of objective type and the candidates are required to qualify each part separately.

But, I would suggest you to go for 12th first then take NDA test which is the best way to get into IAF.

Yes you can enter airforce after 10th, but for that you have to appear for NDA exam.
If you clear the exam then you will be eligible to be trained at the NDA academy.
On successful completion of training, you may join the airforce as an officer.

NDA: is conducted by UPSC (http://upsc.gov.in) twice every year probably in the months of april and september, notification for which are announced in employment news.Candidate you had passed class 12 (Any subject) can appear for Army wing of NDA, Candidate you had passed/appeared class 12 (PCM) with at least 60% aggregate can appear for NAvy & AIrforce wings.

Age limit- 16 1/2 years- 19 years.
Valuable Advice: Keep reading Employment News, for being up to date because all notifications are released there at least once in a month. And also because criteria keeps changing slightly.

no you can not apply for indian airforce after 10th,you can apply only for 12th class pass out at least 60% marks so you can apply after 12th.

yes, you can join Air Force after 10th. there are two fields in which you can join.

one is technical and other is non- tech field.you will be indian airforce personal.you can't become the officer after passing just 10th class.

for pfficer you have to pass 12th for officers.

Sorry to say that it is not possible to get into IAF after 10th..It will be better for you to complete the 12th ,then try for joining the IAF...

After 12th you can join the IAF by applying for the NDA exam ,it ic conducted by the UPSC twice in a year.so if you missed one then you can appl for the next one..

And the eligibility for applying in the IAF by NDA exam is that you must have completed your 12th exam with minimum of 5% marks aggregate and you have attend the age limit of 16 to 191/2 years...

you can join IAF but in 'C' grade posts like cook, barber.

if you want to join higher posts then i will suggest you to go for class 12th.

after that you will be able for NDA . through which you can join IAF.

I am very sorry to say that you cannot join Air Force after 10th.to join Air force you have to give NDA exam and the eligibility criteria is you should be 12th passed with 50% marks in aggregte and PCM as your subjects.so you should prepare for the upcomming exam along with NDA exam.

you can not eligible for join Air Force after 10th . you can join Air Force after 10+2. you must complete 10+2 with paper physics , chemistry , math . after 10+2you will fill up the NDA form and compete it.

Hey you cant join defence sector line just after your 10th boards..you will need to complete your graduation and then become eligible for defence...


You can start giving entrances after 12th class...for secondary schools..Rastriya engineering military college is good..

To join Indian Air force you have to appear for NDA exam. The eligibility for NDA is 10+2 with at least 60% marks. The candidate should be minimum 17 years at the time of joining. First try to complete plus two, then appear for NDA entrance exam.

i am very sorry to say that you are not eligible to apply in Air force as minimum eligibility to join Indian air force is +2 with PCM.So, i advice you that you should go for your +2. After doing +2 you can join Air force through following scheme:

you can join air force in a two category

1.Air man

2.Flying Leutinent


Air man : To join air force as a Air man, you have to appear in the exam of
two categories ,either technical entry scheme or non technical entry scheme.

The eligibilty for both is +2 with PCM.


Flying Leutinent : To become a Flying Leutinent in indian Air force,
you have to appear in the exam of NDA,after qualifying this exam,
you will be call for AFSB, after clearing this you will become
flying leutinent.

but it will better for you if you join Air Force after 12th.

1.take up science stream(as it will help you in clearing the entrance easily)
2.give NDA entrance after 12th boards(whose form u have to fill before ur boards in august)

To apply for the Indian Air force you should be 10+2 pass in any discipline.

You can apply for the NDA examination after the completion of your 10+2.

No dear the minimum qualification to join airforce is 10+2.

10th qualification is not sufficient for Air Force jobs,You should have atleast 12th standard.

As you are interest in Air Force,you can join after your 12th standard,by appearing NDA exam.

Eligibility criteria for NDA exam:

12th standard with maths,physics and chemistry as compulsory subjects

Age should be between 16 1/2 to 19 year

NDA exam will be conducted twice in a year.

So take PCM course in your 12th standard,and apply for NDA exam at the end of your 12th exam.
