The oldest intelligence agency in the country, Intelligence Bureau which you may know as the name of IB welcomes eligibile candidates every year for the post of Assistant Central Intelligence Officer aka ACIO. The IB conducts this exam every year to recruit officers who would work to gather intelligence against the terror organizations in India.

Intelligence Bureau is often regarded as the oldest intelligence agency in the world. It was created in 1885 by the British Empire in India. At that point in time, the intention of Intelligence Bureau was to monitor Russian army movement in Afghanistan. At that point in time, Britishers were worried of possible attack by Russia on India.

As the time went by and India got independence in 1947, Intelligence Bureau became the agency under Home Ministry of India. At that point in time its objective was to monitor neighboring countries like China and Pakistan and gather intelligence. It was also responsible to gather internal intelligence as well.

However repeated failure of the Intelligence Bureau lead to decision to create a new intelligence agency which would gather extrenal intelligence. The name of that agency is R &AW.

In recent years the job of Intelligence Bureau is to gather intelligence about possible terror attack in India. It mostly works to gather internal intelligence and forward it to concerned police force as well the NIA.

To work for the Intelligence Bureau as a Assistant Central Intelligence Officer you will have to appear in the entrance exam. Here are the details of the entrance exam.

Eligibility:

1. Only Indian Citizens can apply for job in Intelligence Bureau.

2. Age Limit for General candidates is 27 years.

3. Age limit for OBC is 30 years.

4. SC/ST - 33 years.

5. You need to have at least graduation degree from a recognised university in India.

To prepare well for the exam it is good to practice model papers from previous years. Here is a link which would be helpful for you.

Assistant Central Intelligence Officer or ACIO is a Grade C level officer in the Intelligence Bureau.

If you have completed graduation degree then you are applicable for ACIO Exam.Your age should be below 27 years old.Age relaxation provide for reserved category .

The written examination for the post of ACIO-II/Exe contains two papers namely Paper I (Objective type) and Paper II (Descriptive type on English language only). The total duration for both the Papers is 1 hour and 40 minutes.

Applications should be submitted only through ON-LINE registration by logging on to the website www.mha.nic.in

Examination Fee :-

General and OBC candidates need to deposit Rs. 100/-.

However, SC/ST candidates and all women candidates are exempted from paying examination fee.

Your age should be below 27 years. for OBC +3 years and SC/ST +5 years..
