Re: Procedure for admission into Engineering? Percentage required in Engineering to get a job?
Dear Friend
There are numerous colleges in India where various engineering courses are taught. For being eligible to do an engineering course(B.E./B.Tech.) you should have have passed 10+2 (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) or equivalent exam from some recognized board like CBSE, ICSE, State board etc. The procedure of admission in different colleges varies. The top national level governmental institutions of engineering are IITs, NITs, IIITs etc. The admission in IITs is done on the basis of an entrance exam IIT-JEE. The admission in NITs and IIITs is done on the basis of an entrance exam AIEEE. Apart from that some good government colleges are there in every state and the admission to these are done through State engineering entrance exam. The top private colleges of engineering are BITS Pilani, MIT Manipal, VIT Vellore, SRM etc These colleges conduct their separate entrance exam for admission in various courses. Mostly private colleges take admission in the basis of State engineering entrance test and/or AIEEE. The marks required in 10+2, for different colleges might be different but 60% marks in 10+2 and qualified in entrance exam is accepted in most of the colleges. For AIEEE this criteria goes down to 50% only whereas for BITS it goes up to 80% marks. All engineering entrance tests contain question from Physics, Chemistry and Maths but some tests may contain questions from English too. The syllabus for any entrance exam is provided at the time of applying for the entrance exam. JOB As such there is no rule that you should have some minimum percentage in engineering to get a job but it is assured that if you score poor grade/marks, the chances of facing problems is very high. So one should try to maintain a decent score in engineering too i.e. at least 7.0 Grade Point or 60% marks(whichever applicable in college). |

in india..we get offered by numerous number of colleges, ranging fro the great iit's to small private colleges. however, you need to prepare very hard for getting into a good college.. different colleges have different criteria for admission.but the most common examinations are aieee, iit and bits. aieee give admissions in nit's,iiit's and some other private colleges like jaypee, thapar etc give admissions from aieee ranks. for iit's,you need to give iitjee. and to enter ino bits, pilani, goa,or hyderabad, you need to give an online exam of bitsat. also, every state offers pet to get into regional colleges. criteria for them is around 60%...but for bits, the pcm percentage in pcm is 80%. so you can plan accordingly..and can ask anything whenever required.. |
