Qualifications required to sit for IPS Exam are same as that for IAS:

Academuic Eligibility - Graduation in any discipline/field...be it BA, B Sc, MBBS, BTech, etc.
Nationality - Indian Nationals are eligible for IAS and IPS.
Age - Between 21 and 30.

diploma students are not allowed to sit for this exams,

and there is two exam for the selection of the IPS,

first PT and then mains exams,
followed by the personal; interview.

To join IPS, you will need to apper in the civil service examination.

The minimum educational qualification required to be eligible for this exam is a bachelor degree in any stream.

Age limit: min max
General- 21yrs. 30 yrs.
obc - 21 yrs 33 yrs.
sc/st - 21 yrs. 35 yrs.


Civil Service examination is conducted every year by UPSC(union public service commission). Candidate needs to face three phases of the examination.

1. Preliminary examination-conducted during the second half of may.

After qualifying preliminary examinaation, you will need to appear for

Only Indian citizens are eligible to write IAS and IPS.The criteria for IPS is same as that of IAS.The candidate should be a graduate from a recognized University. The age of the candidate should not be less than 21 years and should not exceed 30 years. General candidates can have four attempts, OBC seven and there is no limit for SC/ST.

The Indian Police Service (IPS) is the all India services of the Government of India.

To eligible for IPS exam you need a graduation degree or professional and technical qualifications recognised by the government in any discipline from a recognised university.

For being an IPS Officer one had to go through Civil Service Entrance Exams conducted by UPSC (http://www.upsc.gov.in).

It is conducted in 3 steps- 1) Preliminary, 2) MAins and 3) Interview.

After successful completion of all the 3 steps, once performance in respective stages and ther Fitness will decide weather one is going to be an IAS, IPS or any other central government Officer under Civil Service.

Yes there is age limit of candidate must be between 21-30 years, for General candidate which is relaxable upto 3 years for OBC, 5 years for SC/ST, 10 years for Deaf, Blind etc.

For qualify in ias xam you need to passed by graduation.and should have 50% up marks are eligible for ias.

you can do IPS after GRADUATION.

as minimum qualification graduation is require to attain in the IPS exam.

and minimum 60% marks in graduation is require to attain in the IPS exam.
