i am of 26 years of age and currently persuing degree. what are the requirement for attending ips exam.

For IPS, one has to crack civil services examination being conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) every year.

The selection procedure which you have to crack to be placed in IPS is by
-CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test)
-Civil Services Main Examination
-Interview

Here are the following eligibility requirements that a candidate should possess to be eligible for civil services exam.

Academic Qualification :
-One should have completed Graduation with any of the stream from a recognized university.
-Candidates who are pursuing final year of Graduation are also eligible to appear for this exam.

Age criteria :
-One should be in the age group of 21-30 years to be eligible for this exam.
-Relaxation is there in upper age limit upto 3 years for the candidates of OBC category and upto 5 years for the candidates of SC/ST category.
-For the candidates with Physical Disabilities, relaxation is there in upper age limit upto 10 years.

Number of attempts :
-The maximum number of attempts for the candidates of General category are 4.
-Candidates of OBC category can appear for this exam for a maximum of 7 times.
-There is no limit on the number of attempts for the candidates of SC/ST category.

So, first prepare for CSAT Exam well. Try to be strong enough in General English, Aptitude and general awareness which are a part of CSAT Exam.

Simultaneously carry out preparation for the main examination with your chosen optional subjects for this exam.

IPS exam can be taken after graduation and minimum eligibility criteria for IPS exam is:

Age limit

21 years must be completed on 1st August of the year, which a candidate is appearing. Maximum 30 for general category, 33 for OBCs and 35 for SCs/STs .

.Number of Attempts

Four attempts for open, seven for OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs. If a person appears in the Preliminary Examination or even one paper is counted as an attempt.

Minimum Physical Standard

The physical standards are important for the job profile and the rigorous training at the NPA, which includes weekly run for 10 k.m. in 60 minutes, route march for 25 k.m. UAC, Horse riding, rock climbing, assault course, PT obstacles, rope climbing etc. I shall give a detailed a/c of this sometime.

For IPS-

Height – Male 165 cm Pahari Male (general also) & ST (not the SC/ OBC) – 160 cm

Female 150 cm Pahari Female (general also) & ST (not SC/ OBC)- 145 cm

Chest – Male Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm.

Female Min 79 cm expansion 5 cm.

For IAS/IPS, you will need to write the civil service exam conducted by UPSC.

The minimum academic qualification required to write the exam is a bachelor's of degree from a recognised university.

You should have attained the age of 21 years and should not be over 30 years. (relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC)

The application form is available in the designated Head Post Offices/Post Offices after the notification by UPSC. The advertisement for the same will be published in all leading newspapers including Employment News.

1.The candidate holds graduation degree in any stream from recognized university.

2.The age Limit is

1.For general 21-30 yrs

2.For sc/st 21-35 yrs

3.For obc 21-33 yrs.
