in GATE maximum marks come from general aptitude for every paper which is for 15 marks. then engineering mathematics contains the maximum marks. after the the subject which contains more marks for EC paper is given serially like in this way
CS-Control System SS- Signal and Systems ED-Electronic Devices Com- Communication AC-Analog Circuit DC-Digital Circuit this analysis based on GATE 2010 examination. here i am attaching one file. check it out to know the subject wise weightage for every stream in GATE 2010. |

Re: Subject-wise Weightage given in GATE (EC)?
The paper is divided as the marks wise & the subject wise. The marks wise weightage is as under-
The paper consists of 65 questions & all are the objective type. The detail is as under- 1. Questions 1-25 is 1 mark each & 1/3 is the negative marking. 2. Questions 26-55 is of 2 marks each & 2/3 is the negative marking. 3. Questions 48-51 is known as the common data questions & 2/3 is the negative marking for them. 4. Questions 52-55 are the linked questions.questions. It means the answer of the first question forms the basis of that of the second one of the pair. 5. Questions 56-60 are general aptitude questions carrying 1 mark each. Negative marking is there for wrong answer. 6. Questions 60-65 are the aptitude questions carrying 2 mark each & 2/3 is the negative marking. The EC paper consists of questions from Mathematics of 15 marks. The evaluation of the next question of the paper depends on whether the first question is answered correctly or not.If the first question is answered wrong, negative marking will be there for it, but not for the second answer. According to the subject wise the weightage is as under- CS-Control System SS- Signal and Systems ED-Electronic Devices Com- Communication AC-Analog Circuit DC-Digital Circuit |

Re: Subject-wise Weightage given in GATE (EC)?
Dear Friend
The main topics of GATE for ECE stream are GA-General Aptitude EM- Engineering Mathematics AC-Analog Circuit CS-Control System Communication DC-Digital Circuit ED-Electronic Devices SS- Signal and Systems The General Aptitude and Engineering Mathematics are common for all streams. The rest are core papers of ECE. Generally, GATE questions come from all the given topics in an averagely similar fractions. So, all topics should be covered well enough. Sometimes Control System part is covered in major fraction, sometimes Electronic Devices and sometimes Communication System. If we think about last year then the Control System was major one. But you can never forecast future question paper from this trend. Trend changes every year. So, try to be good in all topics and cover each topic as if it is the major one. Thank You |
