I am a B.sc nursing student (22 years) and now awaiting final year exam results. I have deep intention to appear for IAS and i would like to know which subjects i have to opt for main and prelims and also about the preparation for IAS. Also kindly tell me when i can appear if i starts preparing from now??

you should chose those subject in which you have very good command and intrest.....it may be your own core subject or other...

It depend upon ur interest..you should start preparation after ur graduation.

it's good if you have an aim of IAS officer
but to choose the subject you should go through your teachers & you should consult to some faculty they can give you right direction about all it

dear friend its totally depend upon your interest as you are doing b.sc so can select your honors paper and for optional you can choose as per your interest

don't waste your time but start your preparation from now.
about your option i think it will be better that the subject in which you are good & have interest.you can go for it

i think, just choose according to your interest, dont waste your time, to choose subjects, just go for those subjects, in which you have master.............

subject you take as optional for prelim are mainly depedent on your area of interest
but some of the subject like public administraion ,geography wil proove easy for you
just know the exact pattern and start preparing for that

in IAS exams scoring papers includes history,philosphy,geography.as you are science stream student,as per my suggesation geography is quite interesting subject.

Since you are medical stream graduate you can select two subjects from Medical Sciences and Zoology if you wish to go in the same stream of study. But the medical science questions are little bit tough in area of pediatrics, surgery and Ortho areas. Better you can try History and Geography subjects which requires hardly 1 - 1.5 years for the complete prepare for the exam point of view. but still you need to go for the coaching class to get the proper coaching to clear the prelims and main exams easily along with the interview, which is very hard to clear in the first attempt unless you have proper coaching.

can i appear in IAS interview in hindi language while i have choosen electrical engineering as optional subject in mains

choose the subject in which you have confidence. you may also go for counselling by the expert they will guide you your strengths and weakness.

I want to tell you that you will have to choose subject as per your interest but there are one thing that you should take help from your teacher. because there may possibility that area of interest of subject is different. so you can choose easy subject according to your interest.

Hi, u can take psychology and sociology as main subject because these subjects are at your B.Sc. course. So, it will be helpful for your study.

To become an IAS you need to appear in civil services exam conducted by UPSC & for your kind information CSE prelims exam has been replaced by civil services aptitude test (CSAT) to be effective from 2011.

The examination structure of CSAT comprises of one paper consisting of questions from general studies and the other paper focusing on the aptitude skills of the students.

So, to prepare for CAT you should study general knowledge & aptitude books; newspapers & magazines; and solve practice papers.

for being IAS you can take any subjects in graduation and after completion of graduation you can fill the forms of IAS...

you should take that subjects which are easier for you to cover . You may think for your gradution subjects also.

Hi I am a graduate in Information Technology. I am not able to decide the two subjects I should opt for out of the five selected ones - Geography; Mathematics ; Indian History; Political Science and International Relations; and Psychology. I am interested to read psychology but I have never read it before.
Also I wanted to know as an IAS Officer which of the above subjects will be most beneficial for me so that it can be a criterion to choose a subject.
