Re: What courses to do after completion of 12th Class to become IAS Officer?
There is no specific course to do after completion of 12th to become an IAS officer. Graduates from any discipline are eligible to become an IAS officer.
IAS - Indian Administrative Service, to become an IAS officer one has to apply, appear and crack Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC every year. The eligible candidate must be an Indian National having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream of education from a recognised University within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation fro reserved candidate. So after 12th you can purse any stream in which you are comfortable and at least one year rigorous practice is must before sitting for the Civil Service Exam. Re: What courses to do after completion of 12th Class to become IAS Officer?
Respected Sir/Madam, with all the respect I would like to tell you that the entire process of becoming an IAS officer is still confusing to me. I am just a 10th passed. I just want to be sure enough if I can pull myself all that way. Simply, I just want to know these few things:
1. WHAT IS THE COURSE FOR IAS, IS THE PAPER DIFFERENT FOR DIFFERENT STREAM ? 2. WHAT IS THE RETIREMENT AGE OF AN IAS OFFICER EXACTLY, WHY DID YOU SAY IT'S FROM 18 TO 28 YEARS IN YOUR ANSWERS, IS THE LIFETIME IS OF 28 YEARS ONLY, IF A BOY GOT THE POST AT THE AGE OF 25 AND OTHER IN 30, SO WHO GOT IN 30, IS HIS LIFETIME AS AN IAS OFFICER WOULD BE LESS? 3. THIS LOOKS GREEDY, BUT JUST FOR MY QUERY: WHAT IS THE FACILITY AND INCOME OF AN IAS OFFICER? |

Re: What courses to do after completion of 12th Class to become IAS Officer?
You can opt for any course if your intention is to appear for the Civil Services Examination. There isn't any particular course which is accepted for the Civil Services Examination.
In fact any graduation degree is accepted by the Union Public Service Commission which actually conducts this entrance exam. Therefore you can appear for any course of your preference. Since you are from commerce stream, Bachelor of Commerce is one of the suitable courses for you. Other options will be Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Computer Applications. Once you have completed graduation degree, fill the form to appear for the Civil Services Examination for Indian Administrative Service. You will have to wait till early part of the year for the forms to be released by the Union Public Service Commission. You will have to give 8 to 10 months of time for preparations for the Civil Services Examination. Since there is stiff competition, anything less than this would not be sufficient enough. IAS Eligibility Criteria 1. Only Indian citizens get selected for IAS. 2. Bachelor degree in any stream will be accpeted. 3. There is no percentage issue. 4. As on August 1 of exam year, you should be within the age group of 21 to 30 years. 5. There is 3 years relaxation in upper age limit for the OBC. 6. SC/ST have 5 years relaxation. 7. No physical criteria for the IAS. Selection Process 1. Preliminary Exam 2. Main Exam 3. Personal Interview |
