Re: What is the difference between Potential Energy and Kinetic Energy?
The kinetic energy is the energy possessed by an object in motion. Potential Energy is the energy possessed by an object on the state of rest. Kinetic energy is relative to the stationary or moving objects in the surrounding or environment where as potential energy is not related to any object in the environment. The formula of kinetic energy is ½ mv¬¬¬2, where m is the mass of the object and v is eth velocity of the object. The formula for finding the potential energy of an object is mgh where m is the mass, g is the acceleration of the gravity, and h is the height. A moving object with certain velocity has kinetic energy. When an object is moving at certain velocity it will have kinetic energy and when the object is situated at a height it will have potential energy.
