Electric generator is an electrical device which generates electricity. Technically speaking, a generator is a device which converts mechanical energy into electrical energy. The most common example for electrical generator working is a hydroelectric power station. In a Hydro electric power station, water is allowed to fall on to the blades of a turbines or water is collected and forcefully hit onto the blades of the turbine to rotate the turbine. This rotation of the turbine is converted into electrical energy.
