Yes this is the confusing factor in UPSC exams

IFS in CSE will come under Indian foreign service

whereas we will have a seperate exam for Indian Forest Service Like IES(Indian Engineering )

This Indian Forest service examination is conducted every year but it is not mixed with the other civil services

this is a separate exam

this is all about IFS exam by UPSC

IFS in CSAT means Indian Foreign Services.

Indian Foreign Services(IFS)

To join in the IFS you need to go through the Civil Service examination.Based on the marks which you will achieve in both Preliminary and Main stages you will have a chance to opt either for IAS,IPS,IFS,IRS.If your marks are low then you will only have limited options to choose hence try to score better.

You can go through the examination if your between the age group of 21-30 with a graduation degree from a recognized University.

Indian Forest Service

This examination is conducted separately by the UPSC and is non included in the CSAT.For going through this examination a Bachelor’s degree with at least one of the subjects namely, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or Forestry or Engineering of a recognised university or equivalent is required.

The age limit is similar to the CSAT Examination.

When we talk about civil services then IFS stands for Indian Foreign Services.
Most commonly it stands for the same.
There is a seperate exam for Indian Forest Services.

IFS stands for - Indian Foreign Service in UPSC Civil services examination.

But UPSC also conducts - Indian Forest Service examination.

Both these examination was conducted by UPSC.

For Indian Foreign Service, you need to appear for CSAT examination. And to appear for CSAT, you need bachelor degree from a Recognised university and your age should between 21 to 30 years.

But for IFS, Indian Forest Service, You need a bachelor’s degree of a recognised University with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology

OR a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering or an equivalent qualification. The age limit are same as Civil services examination.

Well there are two IFS exam in INDIA and it confuse a lot of students because
of the same name .

1.Indian Foreign Service in UPSC Civil services examination.
2.Indian Forest Service examination which is also conducted by UPSC .

IFS stand for the both Indian Forest Service and Indian Foreign Service.

Both exam is conducted by UPSC in every year.

To appear in the Indian Foreign Service you need graduation degree

The full form of IFS is Indian Forest Service..
The Union Public Service Commission will hold the Indian Forest Service Examination, 2011 commencing from 09th July 2011, to be conducted at various centers across the country.

Eligibility Conditions:

Nationality:
A candidate must be either :
(a) A citizen of India, or
(b) a subject of Nepal, or
(c) a subject of Bhutan, or
(d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India. or
(e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Srilanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Age Limits: A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st July, 2011, i.e. he must have been born not earlier than 2nd July, 1981 and not later than 1st July, 1990.
Minimum Educational Qualifications: The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering.

Indian Forestry services is different from this..

For Indian Foreign Service You have to qualify the Civil Service Exam...

Civil service exam is conduct by U.PS.C. once in a year

IFS - Indian Foreign services.

IFS comes in Civil services and UPSC - Union Public Service Commission conducts CSAT - Civil Services Aptitude Test for these services.

For IFSyou will have to clear CSAT exam.

There are three stages of this exam -

1- Preliminary exam

2- Main exam

3- Interview

Eligibility criteria for CSAT-

1. Candidate should be of Indian origin.

2- Graduation in any discipline from a recognised university.

3- Age should be between 21-30 years.

If you want to become an IFS officer than in that case you have to give the Civil Services Exams conducted by UPSC

This exam is held for 24 posts and these are IAS,IPS,IFS,IRS etc

Educatiional qualifications required is:
Graduation pass in any stream
No minimum marks required in graduation

Age-
Minimum 21 years
Maximum -30 years for all the General category candidates
Maximum 33 years for the OBC candidates
Maximum 35 years for the SC/ST candidates

Attempts-
General candidates- 4
OBC candidates -7
SC/ST candidates- No such restrictions

Both IFS stands for as you can see
(1)IFS stands for Indian Foreign Service and
(2)IFS stands for Indian Forest Service as well

Both the abbreviations can be written in either form although the meaning are different
Indian Foreign Service is a service among Public service and one can become through UPSC civil service exam,has to score a rank to get assigned to become a Indian Foreign Service among Indian Administrative Service and Indian Police Service.
It is serves as Ambassador of own country in different country,Indian Foreign Service stands for that.

Indian Forest Service is conducted separately from IAS or IPS services although conducted by UPSC itself but is hold separately and have no connection with IAS or IPS services.
It is a service as a officer as a Forest Officer in different Forests of India,job is to take care of Forests of all over India.
