What is the lower and upper age limit for 1st standard in CBSE Schools?


Hi, could you please tell me about the upper and lower age limit for 1st standard in any CBSE affiliated schools? And, what about ICSE affiliated schools?

The age limit criteria to appear in the board examination is not determined by the board. It is the sole responsibility of the dorectorate of state education to declare the age limit criteria.

So, visit the concerned office for the detail information.

For CBSE Board schools,
  • Lower Age Limit: 5 years and 6 months (as on 31st March of the year of admission)
  • Upper Age Limit: 6 years and 6 months (as on 31st March of the year of admission)
For CBSE Board schools,
  • Lower Age Limit: 5 years and 8 months (as on 1st June of the year of admission)
  • Upper Age Limit: Not defined

The minimum age required for getting admission into first class of CBSE based schools is 5 years and 6 months and maximum age must not exceed 7 years.

The minimum age required for a candidate to get admission in 1st standard under CBSE board is that the candidate should have completed a minimum age of 5 years and 6 months to 6 years and 6 months.
The school will decide sometime, so you can contact the school for more details.
