What is the qualifications for Assistant Professor in Physics. Is B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering enough? Or, do I need to add any further qualifications?

To be an assistant professor or lecturer in any recognized college, you are required to qualify examinations like NET/SET and for appearing in these examination the minimum education required is a master's degree in concerned subject with at least 55% marks from a recognized university. Marks relaxation of 5% is allowed for candidates belonging to reserved category.

So, having completed just your B.Tech degree course, you are not allowed for your recruitment as Assistant Professor as you are not eligible for appearing NET/SET without completing your master degree course.

The examination is conducted for recruitment as assistant professor and the required qualification is hat candidate must have passed master degree from a recognised university.

There is no upper age limit to appear for the examination. So, candidates with B.Tech qualification are not eligible to appear in the examination and have to complete the master degree course.

1. The minimum academic qualification required to become Assistant Professor is master's degree in technology from a recognized university.

2. You need to acquire minimum qualification in order to become eligible for Assistant Professor in any engineering college.

Few years ago, AICTE allowed Bachelor of Technology or Engineering candidates to teach as a lecturer in engineering colleges. But you can not secure status of Assistant Professor in engineering college with B.Tech as academic qualification.

You will have to pursue Master of Technology course in order to become eligible for Assistant Professor post in engineering college. In some colleges, PhD is also required.

For recruitment as Assistant Professor candidates have to appear and qualify in UGC NET or CSIR NET examination.

There is no age limit to appear for the examination. The required educational qualification is master degree with minimum 55%.

So, as per the present qualification you are not eligible to appear in the examination.
