University Grants Commission - National Eligibility Test is for candidates who wish to apply for lecturer job in the central government colleges. Those who meet the eligibility criteria which are mentioned below may apply for the NET entrance exam.

Considered as one of the toughest entrance exam in India, NET takes a lot of hard work to crack. Those who find it difficult to prepare on their own are advised to take admission in a good coaching center for better preparations.

Now in order to appear for the NET entrance exam, you are required to meet these requirements that are mentioned below:

1. You should be Indian citizen.

2. You must possess post graduation degree in any stream from a recognised university.

3. You must score 55 percent marks in post graduation course.

4. SC/ST candidates need only 50 percent marks.

5. Final year students of PG course may also apply.

6. However they would be disqualified if failed to submit the degree within 2 years of passing the NET exam.

7. Your subject for PG course and NET exam should be same.

8. There is no age limit to appear for the National Eligibility Test.

9. The age limit for JRF is 28 years.

10. Those who have appeared for the NET exam are not eligible for lecturer job in state government colleges. For that you need to appear for SET exam.

You need to submit the admission form online. For which it is important that you have 2 scanned passport size photographs in the JPEG format at the size of photo should be less than 300KB. You would also need the Copy of Bank Challan (fee receipt).

The admission form can be accessed on the http://www.ugc.ac.in/
