What are the qualification criterias and procedures to apply for SSB exam?

If you want to appear for SSB Interview then you can apply for following Defense examinations:

-NDA Examination for those who are 10+2 passed with any stream.

-TES ( Technical Entry Scheme) for those who are 10+2 PCM pass with 75% marks

-CDS Examination for Graduates in any discipline

-AFCAT

-Various Short Service Commission in Indian Defense


In most of the Defense Examination you have to clear the Written examination with merit to become eligible for SSB interview.

In Some case you will be shortlisted for SSB on the basis of application. This happens in most of the Short Service Commission Entries.

You can apply for these examination when the notifications are announced. In some exams which are conducted by UPSC you can apply through Online application but for some special entry schemes you have to apply through prescribed application form with relevant documents and send to the required address.

Required Qualification – Candidates should possess qualification below.

Should have passed 10th or equivalent exam also possessing licence of Heavy Vehicle Driving.

Required Physical Standard – Refer below.

Height : 170 cm.

Chest : 80 cm while 05 cm of minimum extension is required.

Eye Sight : should be 6/6 and 6/9 of two eyes without correction.

Selection Procedure : Documentation, Physical Standard Test, Physical Efficiency Test, Written Test, Trade Test & Medical Exam.

Dear friend,

SSB stands for Staff Selection Board. I want to tell you that SSB is not a exam. SSB is a selection committee board. It selects the candidates on the basis of Physical test and personal interview. SSB conducts 5 days long process to select candidates on the basis of Physical Test and mental test.

You have to pass through these steps in SSB exam:-

• Physical Test
• Group discussion
• Group task
• Personal Interview
• Medical Test

Various works which you have to do in five days are:-

Screening Test (First Day)

1. Verbal and Non-Verbal Tests.
2. Picture Story Writing followed by Discussion of the Stories.

Psychological Test (Second day)

Thematic Apperception Test (TAT) – Commonly known as Picture Story writing.
Word Association Test (WAT)
Situation Reaction Test (SRT)
Self Description Test (SD)

Group Testing Officers (GTO) Test (Third and Fourth day)

Board Meeting (Fifth day)
