Re: What is the qualification to write IAS or IPS entrance exam?
The entrance exam for Indian Police Service and Indian Administrative Service is called Civil Service Examination. It is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.
The age, qualification criteria for IAS and IPS is same. The only difference is the physical requirements. IAS dont have any physical requirements but to become Indian Police Service officer you are required to meet certain physical requirements related to height, eye sight, chest etc. This is due to the nature of work. IAS is more of beauracratic job in which you have to implement government policies and utilize public funds etc. While IPS means that you take part in anti terror operations and maintain law and order. VIP security is also given to the IPS officers. Eligibility 1. You can only apply for Civil Service Examination if the nationality is Indian. 2. Graduation degree is basic qualification requirement. 3. There is no minimum percentage issue. 4. 21 to 30 years is the age to apply for IPS/IAS. 5. OBC can apply till 33 years. 6. SC/ST can apply till 35 years due to 5 years relaxation. Physical Requirements for IPS Height The height of Male candidate should be at least 165 cm. The Schedule Tribe Male candidates get 5 cm relaxation. For female candidate the requirement is 150 cm. The ST Female candidates are also given 5 cm relaxation. Chest The size of Male's chest should be 84 cm with 5cm expansion For female the requirement is 79cm with 5cm expansion. Vision 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye 6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye |
