Yes joining for the diploma course is one of the options. After this you should take the LEET exam to join the second year of engineering. The other option is to join for 12th standard course. Select Physics, Chemistry and Maths as area of specialisation. During the 12th standard appear for the engineering entrance exam. You must complete B.Tech or B.E to become a software engineer.

Re: What should I do after passing 10th to become a software engineer? I have got 89% in SSC
You have to pass 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Maths to become eligible for Engineering courses.
The admission is based on the written examination and you have to get a good rank in the entrance to become eligible for admission into top college. Age Limit: Age should be above 17 years and not above 25 years of age for the entrance exam. Selection Criteria: Objective Type questions will be asked in the entrance exam . You have to be prepared in subjects like physics, chemistry and maths. The syllabus will be from 11th and 12th class. Some of the top Software Engineering colleges in India are : -IIT , Delhi -IIT , Mumbai -IIT, Kanpur -IIT , Kharagpur -IIT , Roorkee -IT, BHU -BITS, Pilani For more information visit http://www.jeemain.nic.in |

First you should take admission in 11th.When you complete your 12th then you have to apply for B.TECH in software engineering.B.TECH is engineering degree. For this you have to appear for JEE MAINS.You have to score good marks to get admission in good colleges. Its duration will be of 4 years and if you wants to do Masters then also you can do it.

Re: What should I do after passing 10th to become a software engineer? I have got 89% in SSC
If you want to do Engineering then there are two options. You can go for Computer Science Engineering or the IT. I will recommend going for the Computer Science Engineering course.
After completing 10th, you can do diploma or continue with the studies and complete 12th standard. After which you can take Bachelor of Technology course. In both cases I will recommend doing the B.Tech course. The diploma course alone is not sufficient enough to give you good quality jobs and therefore if your aim is to work in some MNC in IT then you should go for the Computer Science Engineering. If you decides to choose the diploma way then ensure to pursue diploma in Computer Science Engineering. The college should be recognized from AICTE. It will be a 3 years long course. After diploma you should take admission for the Bachelor of Technology. It can be done through lateral entry scheme. The advantage here is that you will not be required to do first year of B.Tech. Lateral entry scheme gives you admission directly in the second year of the Bachelor of Technology. You should choose the same Computer Science for the B.Tech course as well. The second way would include completing the 12th standard with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. After which you will appear for entrance exam to get admission for the B.Tech course. Joint Entrance Exam is the most popular engineering entrance exam after it has replaced AIEEE and IIT-JEE. It has two stages. JEE Mains is the replacement of AIEEE and the JEE Advanced is the replacement of IIT-JEE. If you are applying for the All India quota that only appear for the JEE Mains. But if you want admission in Indian Institutes of Technology then after clearing JEE Mains you will also have to do JEE Advanced. |

Re: What should I do after passing 10th to become a software engineer? I have got 89% in SSC
Becoming a software engineer is really a nice job and in order to get an admission in this, i would advise you to opt for physics, maths and chemistry in your 11th. After that right from 11th only, start preparing with full focus towards cracking entrance exams like IIT, which will then offer you a B.Tech in one of the most reputed colleges of the nation. IIT is the best though there are many other colleges where you can pursue software engineering but opting for non-medical stream is must.
Thank you |

Re: What should I do after passing 10th to become a software engineer? I have got 89% in SSC
If you want to become a software engineer, you need to do B.Tech in that. Yes, you need to go for JEE because oh the basis of your rank in that exam , you will be given a college for pursuing B.Tech in Software Engineering. JEE is required because from this year only one single entrance exam will be conducted all over India on the basis of which, non- medical students will be given different colleges. There are LPU, Thapar, Rayat, CGC etc. You can check out any of them.
Thank you |

Re: What should I do after passing 10th to become a software engineer? I have got 89% in SSC
It is good that you have decided upon of what you want to be in the very beginning of your academic career itself.
Here is the route map for you to see yourself as a Software Engineer. Opt for 12th class with Mathematics and Physics as the compulsory subjects. Along with your 10+2, prepare for the Entrance Exam that give admission for Engineering course. Soon after the completion of 12th class, apply for the Entrance Exam and crack it that gives admission to join Engineering course. The following specializations will be good choice in Engineering course Computer Science Engineering Information Technology Here are some of the popular Entrance Exams that give admission for Engineering course AIEEE BITSAT IIT-JEE Gain good technical knowledge in these courses and make sure that you are going to secure a minimum of 60% of marks in all the academic levels which is the minimum academic criteria. As Software is in good boom now in India, you will get the job through campus placements itself. So, collect the Placement papers of top IT companies and carry out your preparation from the 2nd year of your Engineering course. Wish you all the best. |

Is it necessary to take IT instead of language subjects in 11th to become software engineer? Can't we become software engineer by choosing hindi as a language subject in 11th?
